Monkey See, Monkey Do Monday--Nails Like Lace

Hi Everyone--I absolutely cannot believe this mani I have to show you today.  It is SO FAR beyond my comfort level I can't even fathom I've done this and am wearing it!  I worked on this yesterday and honestly it did not take me long to do at all.  I took a million pictures of it so bear with me.

I've actually done the base for this mani before.  I did a gradient using China Glaze No Plain Jane, Deviantly Daring and Rare and Radiant.  I stamped using BM313.  I always said I wanted to some back and do a full manicure like the accent nail I did long ago well today is that day ONLY I got to make this into a Monkey See, Monkey Do post for me as I saw this amazeballs Dinosaur/Dragon looking manicure over at Nails Like Lace.  She did this back in April and I've finally taken the plunge to recreate it!

I'm just going to post the pics I took--First up is pics without flash

Here are pics with flash

I took a few in the shade as well but still didn't really capture the duochrome

This manicure is not really "me" at all but because of that it's totally me!!!  It's not practical at all, it's probably totally not work appropriate yet I'm going to show everyone at work including both of my bosses this amazing manicure tomorrow and I know I'm going to get kudos from them both.

I'm glad I'm learning to step outside the box--I think a whole new world awaits me with these spikes!

I got my spikes as well as my studs for my neon mani I posted the other day from The Born Pretty Store .  They have free shipping and can't beat that!

I did lose a few spikes throughout the day yesterday--I lost a couple while cooking so I had to really reinforce and make sure they rest were very secure.  All I used was Seche Vite.

I hope you enjoy this one--I know I sure do!  And thankfully I have a few posts ready for the rest of the week so I don't have to take this baby off right away!!!

Thanks for stopping!!!! I hope you all have a fantastic day!

Day 27 Inspired By You!

Hi Everyone!  Wow what a harried day today's challenge became!  Today's theme in the Crumpet Nail Tart's 31 Day Challenge is Inspired By You. I had all these super good intentions for a fabulous mani for today.  Inspired by me I mean come on!  I could fit chinchillas, food, hot cowboys, crackle, magnetics, gradients, foils mermaids, dragons, animal print and stamping onto 10 fingers somehow!  What ended up happening instead were a few hours spent in the Emergency Room with my mom and sister.  We had to call 911 for my mom yesterday and she thought she had the flu and was very dizzy and could not even lift her head.  Turns out she has a raging kidney infection due to some kidney stones.  Mom has had this kidney stone problem before but never got so sick from it.  So after a few hours in the ER and her getting settled back at home with a babysitter of Lynelle my little sister last night, I got home to try to work on a mani.

I knew I would be back with mom today so I stayed up late--and by late I mean LATE working on this thing.  I tried to get as much as I could into this mani but also had to settle for something that looks good as today is our office Christmas party.  So I settled on a crackle, magnetic, gradiented dragon look starring some of my favorites--The Bohemians!
My index is Ninja Polish Nebula with SoflaJo Black Dagger on it! How cool is that???!!!
This really took hours but only because I redid my ring and pinkie a couple of times until I got a look I liked
Here's my left hand in the "claw" lol!  Look at the thumb. Don't you just love a Bohemian sponged on gradient????

Here it is up close
GAH I love The Bohemians!!!!

I used BM313 for the ring and thumb and BM217 for the index
The pinkie is just black with China Glaze Oxidized Aqua over it.  I tried to use a few of the crackles I have and nothing really looked as good until I did the Oxidized Aqua over black

Check out the shade pics
That matte over Nebula is just amazeballs AND the magnetic gradient in the shade looks really cool too
Maybe one day I'll be able to fit more of "me" into a mani.  But for today I have to say this one kicks some serious A$$!!!!!!!!

Almost done now, what's up for tomorrow???
Well this will be interesting because my favorite color is yellow and yellow nail polish is something I don't have a lot of!  Nor does yellow look good on me in any way shape or form LOL!

What makes up my fellow Tart's?? Check em out!

If at first you don't succeed!

Hi Everyone!  Tonight I had the brilliant idea to stamp Chanel Peridot over Nubar Peacock Feathers.  A couple of things happened--one I forgot how extremely sheer Peacock Feathers was and had to use 3 coats and 4 on a couple of fingers--and two it looked like crap! Crap I say!  I know I should have taken a picture of the epic failure but instead I moved on.  I said to myself OMG what can possibly save this mani and my first thought was the Bo's!  So if first you don't succeed, bo baby, BO!

I simply gradiented with China Glaze Want My Bawdy, Unpredictable, and No Plain Jane and then I stamped with black using BM301
I just LOVE the look of the Bo's sponged on--it brings all the sparkly pigment up onto the sponge and saturates your nail so much more than just painting them!
Look at all that gorgeous shimmer!

Gosh I sure hope I can get work done today instead of staring at my nails all day long!!!

Thanks for stopping by!!! Happy Friday to everyone!

It can sssssssssssneak up on you

Hey everyone.  Today I have a special mani to show you.  While everyone knows when it comes to October it's all about breast cancer awareness, it's also depression awareness month.  Depression is actually a very normal part of our lives.  When you feel sad or blue you say you are depressed.  Many of you know I lost my father to complications from chemotherapy recently.  I am still very depressed about this.  I love my dad, I can't imagine living my life every day without him, BUT dying is the only guarantee we have in this life.  I cry and I get very angry when I think of my father's dying but I know this will ebb.  I know this because I also lost my beautiful sister, Lisa, to breast cancer 3 years ago.  I've also gone through a divorce and a break up which left me very sad.  People will often say something I think is dumb, such as, time heals all wounds.  Time heals a physical wound not a wound of the heart and soul.

My green mani for Depression Awareness is one that shows just how depression can creep up on us.  It's silent and steady and sometimes without help it can be deadly.

There is a difference between depression and clinical depression.  Plain or simple depression is considered as a normal occurrence of everyone's life.  that doesn't mean it's plain or simple--losing a loved one, a  pet, a job--are all things that can cause plain or simple depression.  When they are happening to us they don't feel plain or simple.  They feel heart wrenching.

When depression starts to hinder your everyday living--i.e you can't get out of bed, you can't eat or sleep, you can't work then you're not looking at simple or mild depression.  When depression lasts longer than 6 months, when it affects your everyday life to the point you no longer function as you once did this is clinical depression.  This is where you really should seek professional help.

Sometimes we like to think we can diagnose and treat ourselves.  Please don't do this with something like depression.  If you are depressed and it lasts more than 6 months, if you aren't eating or sleeping, if you can't get out of bed, or go to work, please seek help, you are not alone and you don't have to suffer.

My mani is done with a base of Zoya Ray--it might be my new favorite green.  I stamped on it using the green Bohemians Unpredictable, Rare & Radiant and Deviantly Daring.  The image plate is Mash 42.

This is a month long collaboration to focus on Depression Awareness.  Please stop by to see what all the other gals have come up with

How to train your mani!

Hi Everyone!  We had a pretty difficult challenge in AIS on Sunday.  It was the dreaded--using a tip image.  I don't know about you but none of those tips fit on my tips AND I have longish nails.  There were A LOT of fantastic mani's done in this challenge on Sunday.  I was really blown away by everyone's creativity.  I decided to go with my favorite tip image BM217.  I love this image SO much I can't understand why someone hasn't made a full image of it for crying out loud!
I decided to go with my latest faves--the China Glaze Bohemians for it
I can't say it enough I LOVE the Bo's over black!
I was going to pass on these babies too!  I'm SO glad I didn't!

Here's a shot in the shade--seriously just as cool!

I know this looks a little complex using a tip image to cover your whole nail but really it's not!  There are definitely a lot of tip images I haven't used yet though and after seeing pics from the talented group of gals in the Facebook Group Adventures In Stamping I'm going to make an effort to do more stamping with them!

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you all have a fantastic day!!!

Laurie's got her groove back!

Hi Readers!  FINALLY I have come up with a mani that I love, love, LOVE for this 31 Day Challenge!  The theme for today is animal print and boy did I ever bust it out!  I really wanted to do something wild and I think I nailed it!
This is the glorious China Glaze Bohemians both as a gradient with black stamped over it and as a gradient stamped over black!
That one's a bit bright but I had to get thumby in there!
Glurg this is just gorgeous!!!
Man I love how these stamp especially over black!!!

Check out how cool thumby is!
Can you see all that shimmer is these babies when you gradient with them???!!!

This mani kills me DED!

I feel like I should queue some Etta James here instead of my man coming along though it's my mani! LOL!

I used all three Bundle Monsters for this mani lol! Pinkie is BM16, ring is BM221, swear is BM223, index is BM224 and thumby is BM313.  For the ring and thumb I did a gradient over black using China Glaze Bohemian Swanky Silk, No Plain Jane and Deviantly Daring.  For the other nails I did gradient stamping over black dotting my plate with all the Bohemians--Rare & Radiant, No Plain Jane, Deviantly Daring, Unpredictable, Swanky Silk and Want My Bawdy.  I cannot tell you enough how much I love the Bohemian Collection from China Glaze!

Since I'm feeling so good about today let's check out what's up for tomorrow
Hmmm flowers I have a few ideas running around in my head let's see if I can nail another one!

Thanks for stopping by!! I hope you all have a fantastic day!

Slow and steady wins the race!

Hi Readers!  A happy Wednesday to you!  After yesterday's flip flop fiasco I am back on top!  What better way to get there than a lovely gradient!  I can't believe how I thought about passing on the China Glaze Bohemians when they first came out!  These babies are gorgeous!  They look great on and they work great to stamp with.  BUT as with all duochromes they truly shine when black or a darker color beneath them is involved.  When using them to stamp with make sure you have a dark, complimentary base.

For these gradient I used China Glaze Deviantly Daring and Rare and Radiant. I did not layer these over black, instead I did one coat of Rare and Radiant first and then used both for my gradient

These mani reminds me of a way cool turtle!

And how can you not love a polish that looks great in the shade too????

I don't think I'll ever tire or a beautiful gradient.
And I love how the giraffe image plates can easily be turned into a turtle shell lol!
I stamped Kleancolor black over my gradient using BM313.

If you weren't going to get the Bohemians, or you're still on the fence--get over the fence Readers!  They are gorgeous!!!!

Thanks for stopping by!! I hop you all have a fantastic day!
