Digit-al Dozen Does Tape--Shimmer me timbers!

Hi Everyone!! Happy Friday!!!!  Now that the tape mani week is coming to an end I have one I do like--LOL!  I've been enjoying the whole skittle look and haven't done much at all with my Zoya's in the Irresistible collection so I hauled them out and decided to pair them with their Stunning counterparts for today's mani

I'm usually a day behind posting so this is what I wore yesterday and got a lot of compliments!

I enjoyed it immensely and loved how it sparkled in the sun.  I snapped this pic while at a stop light in car on the way home LOL!

I should have tried for a closeup of the ring I made with Butter London Wallis and my franken Ragnell it's super lovely!

So here we are at the end of the tape mani rope and finally one I like!

Digit-al Dozen Does Tape Mani's Is it a face or candlestick???!

Hi Everyone!!! Hope everyone is having a great week.  Glad to see things are winding down.  I have a very busy weekend,  Saturday is our company picnic and Sunday is my nephew's graduation party.  I don't really feel old despite being 50 but thinking of my nephew--the youngest in "our" family going off to college makes me feel a bit old.  I still remember the day he was born!  Super cute baby and he's grown into a very handsome young man.

I stopped off to see my sister last night to see what kind of help she needed from me this weekend and in the process I snagged some craft scissors.  I haven't used any ever for a tape mani--probably because I hate tape mani's--but I thought "hey!! why not give it a try??"

It's not as easy as everyone makes it look, BUT I did get a couple of cool images from it!

I used one of my favorite blues for this OPI's Just Groovy

I really love the brightness of this blue--so great for summer!

I had a dickens of a time with these scissors though, it didn't want to work with scotch tape so I had to haul out the masking tape!

I like this effect though so I'll be practicing with these again

These two together made me laugh--is it a candle stick or is it a face??

It almost looks like the Alfred Hitchcock silhouettes to me!

I'm glad I don't have too many more days of this week though, I'll tell you that!!

The Digit-al Dozen Does Tape Mani's--Opposites Attract!

Hi Everyone--Happy Hump Day!!!  Thank God we are in the middle of the week!  3 tape mani's down and only 4 more to go!  I didn't really love this one as much as I'd hoped and it bummed me out because I used 2 of my elite polishes!  I hauled out my gorgeous Illamasqua Baptiste and Nfu-Oh 51 and tried to work some magic.  I went for some matte and shiny squares and while all my coworkers ooohed and aaahed over this yesterday it fell rather flat for me

I also learned the very valuable lesson of making sure you don't have any remnants of hair spray on your fingers before you take pics--my pinkie looks a bit dull

Normally matte flakies are really gorgeous, I just don't like the looks of this

No matter how hard I tried I felt my lines were not crisp enough.

Sometimes it's good to discover your limitations--I joked with the girls the other day saying if I'm the gradient queen when it comes to tape manis I'm definitely the tape mani peasant!

I have been loving what everyone else comes up with though, so perhaps like last weeks neon I'll learn to embrace tape manis (although I seriously doubt it!)

Digit-al Dozen Does Tape Mani's--Ice Dragon

Hi Everyone!  Can I just tell you all how much tape mani week is kicking my butt?!  OMG I really do not like tape mani's AT ALL!  Yes I've done a couple of good ones, but that's it, that's all I got honestly.  I cannot believe the great creativity all my cohorts have come up with and then there's me--the runt of the family.  OH LORD!

I'm going to keep up plugging away but don't expect anything great that's for sure.

Last year I did a tape mani that someone told me looked like a dragon's eye.  I thought I would try the same thing again only using different colors this time.  I went with OPI Suzi Skis In The Pyrenees Suede and Sinful Colors Snow Me White

Suzi is a lovely dark grey suede

Even though I wanted this mani to appear like an Ice Dragon's Eye instead to me it screams doorway to the other side!

I don't know maybe it will grow on me

Then again maybe not! LOL!

This "simple" mani took me AGES!  UG these things are just not my cup of tea.

BUT my friends have been doing amazeballs with theirs!!!! Did you see Debbie's neon mani from yesterday??? GLURG!

Monkey See, Monkey Do--Lucy's Stash!

Hi Everyone and welcome to the the Digit-al Dozen's dreaded tape mani week!  OH MY GAH readers I just do not like tape mani's!  They are SO time consuming!  The easiest thing to work with tape wise is striping tape.  It doesn't pull up your polish, forms perfect to your nails, but is tiny!!! Tiny!!!! Tiny!!!  So it's SO hard to deal with.

BUT it's the Digit-al Dozen's theme this week so I'm in it whether I'm good at it or not!

Today I did my best to copy someone I get a lot of cool inspiration from Lucy's Stash.  I don't often have the same polish as she does so I just do my best to come up with something similar and that's what I did today.  I hauled out my never before used OPI NYPD Beet and and unnamed Hema polish I have to create this

One thing I noticed today that I don't see very often is some tip shrinkage with Seche Vite

I'm guessing it's due to the Black Label OPI

It's a lovely color though!  And the only "beet" I can have while doing low carb!
