Day 8--Duochrome, Flakie or Holo

Hi Everyone!  Today's Crumpets Nail Tart's Challenge puts us to Day 8 aka Duochrome, Flakie or Holo.  When I first saw this theme I said to myself well why not do all 3?  I think we all know I love duochromes--I especially love Sally Hansen duochromes  huge fan of flakies as well, but holo's not so much.  While it's true I have a lot of holos I just HATE they look like crap indoors!  I spend most of my time indoors working and I'm not out lazing around in the sun enjoying the prismatic effect of a holo for crying out loud!

BUT today I decided to do all three.  I chose Sally Hansen Ruby Sapphire for my duochrome, three nice coats of it, but on my accent nail over 2 coats I did a layer of my favorite flakie--Cult Nails Clairvoyant.
I love a duochrome because it has so much to offer, one color one minute, another color the next
I move my hands all over the place when I wear a duochrome
I stamped another accent nail with Color Club Cloud Nine and Cheeky XL D
While the flash makes the holo come to life with a prismatic blaze, it hides the gorgeous flakie, and buries the 2nd color of the duochrome
I'm not sure why my skin is so golden here either lol!

Back into a shade pic and the duochrome and flakie shine but the holo is DED
Poor, poor holo, you only come out to play in the sun
I guess that's why when it comes to "finishes" I'm always going to want to go with a duochrome or flakie over a holo.  I'm glad I got all three into this mani though, it shines in and out of the light for me!

What's up for tomorrow?
Saran Wrap!  I haven't tried a Saran Wrap mani yet!!!!

Let's see what the other Tart's have come up with for today

Funny thing happened on the way to the Sunday Challenge

Hi Readers! Remember yesterday's post with the Sally Hansen prisms I used for our jewel theme? Well I had done a mani I really loved and intended to stamp over it BUT honestly I loved it too much to stamp over it!  Since I was trying a few things yesterday I decided to save this gem to show you today.  This is just a gradient and nothing else but sometimes simplicity is all you need.  It was my intention to do a duochrome gradient and then stamp over it using another duochrome BUT this was too lovely to do anything to.  My duochrome gradient is Sally Hansen prisms Amber Ruby and Scarlet Ruby and as with all duochromes they really come to life in both light and shade.  Up first is the shade
I love this gold to red look
I used a base of black first to help the duochromes find their inner beauty
It sort of matched the colors on my laptop case!
I really couldn't stop staring at how pretty it was
I'm impressed with how seamless the gradient is

Now for the light pics
A TOTALLY different look yet really almost the same!
So sparkly!
I think we are nuts as a whole to care more about our health than these non 3 Free beauties LOL!
Dear Sally Hansen why can't you make something like this again??? WHY??!!

This was just WAY too lovely to stamp over. And you all know I don't say that very often!

Duochromes are my thing just like gradients--I can't live without 'em!

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you all have a fantastic day!

It's a great gradient day!

Hi Readers!   The girls and I got together again for another group project and we decided on gradients!! WOOT!  As you all know I am horribly addicted to gradients and it sure doesn't appear that I'll be stopping anytime soon.  I think today's gradient is going to surprise you though.  I love it so much I am not going to stamp over it.  That's right absolutely no stamping.  I'm sure you'll be able to tell why lol!  I've done some really pretty gradients (with the exception of the craptastic pastel one).  I've done some nice creams and scattered holos so today I thought "hey what about a duochrome gradient?"  "can it even be done????!!!!!"  Yes--YES Readers, it can be done.  Behold the glory that is a duochrome gradient
I chose my beloved Sally Hansen Burgundy Orchid, Garnet Lapis and Turquoise Opal for my gradient.  Not much to say other than to show you the pics!
These few are all indoor with natural lighting
This is what happened when I went outside to run errands
OMG did you see that??? Why oh why does all the world think the real beauty is in holographic polishes???? Look how this sparkles in the sun!!!
Here's one thing I did discover--tipped just right where in the sun it's hard to see the gradient.
Instead there's just a gorgeous shimmery, sparkly burgundy!
Here's a picture of the stars of the show!
Left to right Sally Hansen Burgundy Orchid, Garnet Lapis and Turquoise Opal.  Poor Garnet Lapis is naked but that's okay he likes it like that.
I used one nice thick coat of WetnWild Black Creme before doing my gradient as the Sally Hansen Prisms really come to life over black.

What do you think Readers?  Do you think a duochrome gradient is the shizz or is this not your cup of tea?  Can you see why I needed no stamping necessary for this beauty?

Thanks for stopping by!! I hope you all have a fantastic day!!  Make sure you check out all the gradients my friends did!

Who needs holos???

Hi Readers--that's right you heard me who needs holos when you can have a gorgeous looks great in the sun and the shade duochrome!  I love duochromes Readers and more importantly I love the first duochromes--the Sally Hansen prisms.  Today I'm wearing knock out prism called Burgundy Orchid.  My wonderful polish wifey Lori got it for me for Christmas.  This is how gorgeous it is Readers--this convo could have happened to me today
Me "What seems to be the problem Officer"
Cop "Ma'am is there a reason you were driving so erratically?"
Me "Me?! Driving erratically are you sure?"
Cop "Yes ma'am it's as if you were constantly turning your hand in front of you to catch the light of the sun and shade--almost like you were staring at your fingers"
Me "Huh that's not ringing a bell at all Officer"

Yes that could have been my conversation today because that's what I was doing!  I had to go to the store for more cotton balls and I had a hard time concentrating on the road because I was staring at the gorgeousness that is Burgundy Orchid.

While duochromes do come out to play in the sun they really shine in the shade.  Look at this gorgeous mani!
This is the beauty that is Burgundy Orchid
With this gorgeous duochrome you see dark purple, burgundy, red and even gold!
Here's a shot that shows red
Here's how it looks in the light of the kitchen, a gorgeous dark purple
Here's a bottle shot--ahhhhh I love prisms!
Of course I didn't stop there!  I stamped over it lol!
I actually tried to do a tape mani with this and it was a HUGE fail so I settled for the abstract image on plate M64 and was not disappointed!
Are you dying yet????
Why would anyone settle for a holographic polish that only truly shines in the sun when you can have something that looks like this?????!!! WHY??!!!!
OMG SERIOUSLY HOW GORGEOUS IS THIS????
I can't stop posting pics of it!
If you don't have this color Readers YOU NEED IT!  I don't care what anyone wants to tell you about the duochromes from Ozotic or Ludurana the REAL duochromes are Sally Hansen prisms!  You can still find this one on ebay for crying out loud!
If I could I would marry this color!

What do you think Readers--are you a holo lover or a duo lover???

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you all have a fantastic day!

Franken Friday!

Hi Readers!  In my small nail polish community I'm often referred to as the Franken Queen.  Honestly I'm not deserving of the title but I think it's sweet they call me that.  Today I'm not featuring one of my frankens though.  Instead I'm featuring a franken made by my friend Tara who's blog is Tough As Nails and Twice as Pretty and can be found here. Tara made what I consider to be one of the most gorgeous holographic frankens I have ever seen.  That's right that I HAVE EVER SEEN! When she first posted pics of it I about died and immediately negotiated a swap for it!  She thinks she got a good deal swapping me my Oops I Did It Again which is a Grape Crush Dupe and a nail polish ring I made for her with OPI DS Original.  I know I got the better end of this swap for sure!  She named this franken Carlos Rossi Wine Jug.  I've never had any Carlos Rossi wine but I sure love wearing him on my nails!

Look at this beauty!
I love a claret holo so much!  Holo's don't have to be fun and summery!

And because we all know I HAVE to stamp I pulled out the big guns and went for my Sally Hansen Prism in Golden Cinnabar.  I stamped with Konad m65.The effect was awesome!
And back to flash to show the holo with the stamping
ONE MORE TIME BECAUSE IT'S SO PRETTY!
I love the Sally Hansen Prisms.  Did you know Sally Hansen was the first to come out with holographic polish?  The duochromatic Prisms are unequaled in my opinion.

And because I really did make out like a bandit in my swap with the lovely Tara here's a picture of all the goodies I got from her.  Check out the Elvis mug she sent me!  I love Elvis and all my friends know it, wasn't it super sweet of her to send it???!!!!

How about you readers--do you have friends who franken?  If so what's your favorite franken you've got from them?
