The Digit-al Dozen Does Childhood--Mother/Daughter Outfits!

Hi Everyone!  What a beautiful day it is today here in Wisconsin!  It's 55 degrees and sunny.  It reminds me of all of the wonderful times growing up we spent Up North camping or staying at a resort.   My family was very big on vacations but since we didn't have a ton of money they weren't any jetsetting vacations instead  things like camping and staying at a resort for a week.  In the Winter we would go up to Milwaukee for a weekend getaway and stay in a  hotel with a pool.  My parents always did the very best they could to give us kids some great vacations.

My Great Grandma Grove was an excellent seamstress!  She could sew anything!  I have a lot of fond memories as a young girl going to the fabric store with her and my Grandma Welch.  I was the favorite granddaughter and great granddaughter of course.  When we were young my Great Grandma sewed a lot of matching mother/daughter dresses for us.  I'm not sure if my mom was super thrilled or not but again because we didn't have a ton of money my parents were forever grateful for all the things my grandparents did for them.  And if they meant putting on some matching outfits that's what was going to happen LOL.

One of the resorts we went to a few times was the Red Robin Resort.  It wasn't a huge resort but it was a nice little place to go to where we could fish and swim.  I'm pretty sure I spent all my spending money on candy and ice cream the week we were there.  I actually have a great picture of all of us in our matching outfits for one of these trips!  Since I have such fond memories of these times as a young girl my mani today is a shout out to my wonderful grandmas and all their hard work through those many years when we were young and dressed alike

Isn't this a cute mani??? I totally remember the print on our matching dresses looking like this!
I used a base of Sinful Colors Pistache and then stamped with FUN13

Here's the picture I have of us in front of the resort sign!
OMG were'nt we adorable????  Oooh now that I look closer I guess these were jumpers and not dresses! Probably a good thing since I was a tomboy so I'm sure if I was in a dress my underwear would be showing with all the horsing around I used to do.

Here's my mani I think I did pretty good considering it's hard to see the print on this old as hell picture LOL!

In case you were wondering I'm the oldest of us girls so I'm the tallest in the picture after my mom.  Lisa is the middle child and Lynelle the youngest.  Were were adorable??  Did you see how high my mom's hair was?? Yep she hair sprayed that sucker even camping back then!

Here's a lovely collage of my nails with the pic
Man those vacations were some fun times!

I'm heading over to check out if anyone else wore matching outfits when they were little!

Happy Easter!

Hi Everyone! A very Happy Easter to you all today.  I spent the day with my family .  We had a great brunch after church this afternoon and I got to spend some time with my grand nephew, Sean.  He is SO MUCH fun!  We played some Wii games and some tag in the house and then we watched the Dreamworks movie Spirit Stallion Of The Cimarron.  I'm not going to lie I cried four different times in that movie.

I love spending time with my family and especially on this day when as a Christian I rejoice the day the stone was rolled away and Christ rose to Heaven.  Someday I will join him there and be reunited with all my loved ones who have gone before me.  A day to celebrate most certainly!

My Easter mani today is pretty simple.  Nothing as stark and riveting as my Good Friday manicure but devout none the less.

I did a lovely gradient using Sinful Colors  Sweet Tooth and Candy Coated along with China Glaze Secret Peri-Wink-le
My stamped heart is from Shany SH15 and my swirls are from VL3 and Mundo Lavender.  I added some white doves from DRK Designer XL 1 to complete my Easter look for today
I really hope everyone has a happy and blessed Easter!

Tutorial Tuesday--Sveta Sanders!

Hi Everyone!  I fully intended to make this yesterday's Monkey See, Monkey Do Monday and then it took too long and since I'm old I have to go to bed early so I had to stretch it out to a tutorial Tuesday!  The first time I saw this mani I fell totally in love with it.  I had to have this whole entire plate just based on the single mani I'd seen done with it.  But something amazing happened, based on this single mani I'd seen done I feel in love with all of the artist's work and now stalk her Instagram regularly!  You might know who I'm talking about when I say sveta_sanders.  She is AHmazing!

I was able to snag the Konad Square 1 plate on ebay and as soon as I had it in my hot little hands I was able to redo the tutorial I had seen Sveta do
These are all full nail decals which are a pita but in the end look really amazing!
I stamped using the Konad Square 1 plate and then filled in the flowers with Zoya Solange.  I covered the entire decal with Sinful Colors Pistachio.  I let it dry and then peeled off of my stamper and applied the whole decal to my nail.
It really wasn't hard to do at all I just followed the super fast and easy Sveta posted on her Instagram HERE

I not really a fan of the decal method because it takes up so much time, but maybe just an accent nail here or there isn't a bad idea.

What do you think?  Have you seen any of Sveta's awesome stuff?  Are you a decal'er or just a stamper?

The Digit-al Dozen Does 2--- Pairs!

Hi Everyone!! Happy Monday!!!  This week we are celebrating our 2nd anniversary.  This awesome group has been around for 2 years and man have we seen some excellent nail art in various forms.  Whether you are someone who loves free hand or stamping, whether you follow blogs, instagram or Facebook, the Digit-al Dozen has been an excellent source for all things nail art!

This week we have an interesting them.  It's all about the 2's!  Each day we will be doing a theme that can be associated with 2.

Today also happens to the be the wedding anniversary of my parents--Alan and Sandra Lutze.  It would have been 52 years for them today however my father died just short of their 50'th wedding anniversary 2 years ago.  This day will always mean something to me for it is the day my parents joined together in holy matrimony and raised 3 daughters in a loving and supportive home. Not everyone is lucky enough to have this in their life.  Not a day goes by that I don't realize how very lucky I am.

To support both my wonderful Digit-al Dozen group and my parents my message today pertaining to 2 is a couple is also a pair.  53 years ago today my father proposed to my mother and she said yes.  And the rest was history

To get this look I did a gradient with Sinful Colors Pull Over, Zoya Shelby and Zoya Rocky.  I stamped using MoYou Mother Nature 01

My thumb looks pretty good too!
In the case my parents two people who joined together to make three beautiful daughters one family was formed--pretty neat if you ask me!

Be sure to check out how everyone else is kicking off this week!

If my head wasn't screwed on, I'd be screwed!

Hi Everyone!  Happy Monday!  I started out my day thinking today was the start of a Digit-al Dozen week and could not figure out why for the life of me my link code wasn't working.  Come to find out it's not until NEXT week.  OIY!  Definitely not the way to start out a Monday!  So I had to do some scrambling so I would have stuff to post this week LOL!.  Thankfully owning 8 million and 67 polishes helps you out in a pinch!

I grabbed something I had out which was Sinful Colors Candy Coated a very lovely lavender and decided to holo it up a bit with a holo topcoat I made.  And then I just stamped over it with FUN 5 plate and BAM quick and easy but really pretty!
I don't wear holo's very often.  I always love them when I have them on though
Holo topcoats tend to give a silvery look to a color because of the spectra flair powder but in this case it adds to the purple of Candy Coated instead of taking away from it.
I really like this image on the FUN 5 plate too, that plate has so many cool things on it!

I hope everyone else fared a little better than I did today--and your day started out as it should have and not with you thinking it was next week.

Thanks for stopping by!!! I hope you all have a fantastic day!

The Digit-al Dozen Does Texture--Let'e Get This Party Started!

Hi Everyone!

It's Digit-al Dozen week AND we have some new faces so OMG I really need to amp up my game!  I felt like I had to pull out all the stops on this one.

I'm sure many of you know I am a HUGE Elvis fan.  Recently I got a clutch on ebay that is not only Elvis, it's got a leather cuff attached by a chain AND studs on it!  OMG this is the perfect purse for me.  So I decided to do a mani to match my purse so I could get off the Texture week in style!

Here's my new purse!

I think I did a spot on job with the replication!
These studs are just so awesome!
Talk about texture!
How about pointy for a texture???!!
I used OPI Atomic Orange, Sinful Colors Wisp and Zoya Robin for my polish
The studs I found on ebay
I've got a few coats of Seche Vite on to keep these babies in place!
What do you think?  How'd I do?  Don't you just love my new purse??? Look at those bedroom eye on The King!

Okay so I've thrown down the gauntlet!  Let's pop over to see what my friends have come up with for Textured Week!

Sunday Challenge--Pastels!

Hi Everyone!!  Happy weekend!  The sun is finally out here and we've had two very nice days to our weekend.  Yesterday I spent some time with my little sister and our grandnephew Sean.  We took him to a kids event they had and watched him run around and play like crazy and then I treated everyone to ice cream.  It was really nice to spend my Saturday not working for a change!

Today I'm working on some Springish cleaning.  I cleaned out our hallway closet and tossed out a bunch of stuff I never use or haven't used for a long time.  I also tossed out old makeup and reorganized my current makeup stash.  And in the process of cleaning out the closet I found a brand new never used bottle of OPI The Lifeguard Makes Me Blush. Now how's that for perfect!  It's a sweet summer pink too so it will go to good use for sure.

I also cleaned the bathroom, scrubbed the bathroom floor and cleaned the windows in the living room today and all of that was done before 9 am!  So that means I get to spend a relaxing rest of my day reading and doing my nails!

I'm also reorganizing nail plates today because I got the 2nd Wistonia set in the mail yesterday.  So much fun for a Sunday LOL!

Today's challenge for Adventures In Stamping is pastels.  I'm not really a pastel person or should I say I wasn't.  It seems like suddenly I'm in  pastels because I got a few of the pastel Kiko Cupcakes and I really like this pastel look I did for today's challenge.

I hauled out some of my Sinfuls from their Sugar Crush line last year and did a saran wrap smoosh method with Orange Cream, Cotton Candy, Sweet Nothing and Sweet Tooth.  I stamped with a plate from new Wistonia set--W204
I'm not sure why I'm so late on these Wistonia plates!  I got the 2nd set and really like them so I'm sure I'll go back and pick up the first set as well
I must admit that today was the first time I felt my smoosh saran wrap method was successful too!
The blue Sweet Tooth is probably really too dark to be called a pastel but Spring is SO hard to transition to!  How do we go from dark vampy Fall and Winter colors to pastels in the Spring?!  It seems crazy to me!
This is as pastel as I'm going to get!

I hope you all are having a great weekend!  Thanks for stopping by!

Green With Envy

Hi Everyone!  Happy Monday!!!
The other day I was looking through some of my pictures try to find a mani I had done awhile ago as I liked the accent nails and wanted to do them again.  In the process I saw picture and picture after picture of my lovely long nails.  Man I really miss those nails!  Suddenly I was super jealous of those days gone by.  I mean come on how long is it going to take for these nubbins to grow out?!!!

So I decided to put together a little green gradient to make myself feel better.  I haven't gradiented in a while and I was super happy with how this turned out
This turned out so smooth!  I used Sinful Colors Innocent and Exotic Green as well as OPI Nein, Nein, OK Fine
I wish there was a pill I could take to grow these babies over night!  Then again I wish there was a pill I could take to lose weight over night too LOL!

Thanks for stopping by!!! I hope you all have a fantastic day!

Digit-al Dozen Does Black & White

Hi Everyone Happy Monday!  Today kicks off the Digit-al Dozen's Black & White Week.  And man is it needed--black for mourning the death of that Packer game yesterday! OH MY LORD!  Who expected to see that happen?! Yikes definitely not me!  I watched every single painful moment BUT while I was doing so I had the chance to do a Monkey See, Monkey Do Monday mani!!! Woot!!! I haven't done one is a long time.  There are a lot of great black and white mani's done but some really talented people too BUT I have always, ALWAYS loved the one I recreated for you today.

I chose to do the black and white gradient zebra Diana from D.I.A.N.A did.  This was an entry to fashion inspired contest Anna over at the Wacky Laki had.  I've have been inspired by both of these ladies for over two years now.  I'm lucky enough to be in a couple of Facebook groups with them and I've learned alot from the both of them as well!

So kicking off the black and white week I give you--gradient zebra!
Isn't this one WILD!!!!!!
With Diana being Dutch I couldn't use any of the same polishes she did so I had to improvise.  I used Sinful Colors Black On Black and Snow Me White and for the grey I used my franken Shibari MASTER

This is the dress that inspired Diana to do the mani
It's pretty gorgeous!

Here's a side by side of my mani and the dress
I honestly think a black, grey and white gradient is one of the most striking you can do.  Check out how great thumbie looks!
I stamped using M57--which is the only thing of Diana's original mani I did have!

Here's a collage with pics of both Diana's and my mani--I really loved doing this one!

I think this week is going to be amazing for the Digital Dozen!  I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with!!

Ahhhhhhhh Autumn!

Hi Everyone!!! Happy Weekend!  It's a good day to be inside baking or reading a book this week.  It's cloudy, rainy and definitely not warm.  We might be moving right into Winter here lickety split!

I FINALLY did an Autumn manicure I love!  I found a lovely palette on Design Seeds that I went with and it helped me create what I think is a true Autumn gradient for my nails!
The look of yellow to orange to burgundy to brown is just what I was looking for!
This is the palette I found on Design Seeds
I had to get creative and franken the orange color as it's a much softer orange than anything I have.  I used Sinful Color Pull Over for the yellow, my frankened orange, Zoya Toni for the burgundy/rust and OPI Get In The Espresso Lane for the brown.
I stamped in silver even though it seems you should go with gold with their color scheme--but I wanted to stay true to my palette
I used my SA17 plate for stamping
I'm pleased with how this turned out!

What do you think?  Do you like it better with or without the stamping on it?

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you all have a fantastic day!

The Digit-al Dozen Does Skittles--Taste The Rainbow!

Hi Everyone!!! Happy Monday!!!  On Saturday of this weekend I went and hung out with my friends Stephanie and Danielle.  We spent 10 hours, yes you heard me, 10 hours hanging out doing nails and eating some delicious food!!  Over the Labor Day Weekend I met both Dani and Stephanie IRL for the first time and a lasting bond was formed.  It's great to meet people who share you love for nail polish and nail art.  I didn't even bat an eye at the bazillion polishes and plates Stephanie had--okay that's a lie I was definitely batting my eyes.  She was kind enough to me let me use some of her plates AND because she did I was able to do this little gem to kick off Skittles week with the Digital-Dozen
I used Sinful Colors Innocent, OPI Need Sunglass, China Glaze Grape Pop and Zoya Paz for my fun colors!  I stamped with MJ XIV plate and boy is this a fun mani to start the week!!!

I wonder if anyone else beat me to the Skittles punch???!!!

Where oh where is Bob Ross?!!!!

Hi Everyone!!! Happy Monday!  Today starts a week long theme of Autumn.  Some friends and I are posting together this week showcasing what Autumn is to us.  It should be interesting!!!  Some of them don't even have 4 seasons where they live!  I do though!  I live in the glorious state of Wisconsin where we have 4 seasons every year and Fall is definitely gorgeous here.    I feel very blessed to wake up and look outside and see sugar and red maple trees in a gold or rich red and the aspen in their gorgeous yellows.  And of course mingled through them all are the majestic pine trees!

Well they are majestic until you try to paint them on your nail.

Here's a word of advice people--just because you receive your set of 3 detailed brushes for nail art means you are suddenly an artist!

I tried channeling Bob Ross but it just didn't work LOL!

My base, however, is MAGNIFICENT!  I used a ton of polishes to create my base--Nails Inc Hamstead Gardens--the ugly mustard yellow no one seems to like but that I love, Sinful Colors Innocent, OPI A Roll In The Hague, Revlon Vixen, Zoya Envy, Darcy, Josie & Thandie were all dabbed on with saran wrap over one coat of Hamstead Gardens.

It all went wrong with those happy little trees!  My index pine tree is like some sort of mutant!

Sometimes less really is more!

I love how thumbie turned out!

This is the picture which inspired me!
Look at all these gorgeous Fall colors!!!!!

Here's some shots with flash
Sort of makes the pine tree on my index even more mutanty!!
I really loved my base and even the pine tree on my swear isn't too bad.  I think stamping over this base would have been great too--I might just drag it out again since the challenge is a week long!

Check out what my friends came up with for Autumn!
