Digital-Dozen Does Vintage--Past & Present!

Hi Everyone!!  Whew!  I am trying to get caught up with my posts here.  I'd like to say better late than never but honestly I feel really awful I didn't get my post up on time!

So today I have an easy mani that led to something bigger.  I should a picture of this to my friend Emily to see which way it looked more like vintage wallpaper. Not only did she tell me the matte version was the best but she also told me it looked like the wallpaper from the tv show Sherlock.  I don't watch the show and found it was her fave.  There seems to be a ton of fan fare all over Benedict Cumberbatch, albeit I think people just like saying his name, so I decided today I was going to sit back, relax (after working 8 hours of course) and watch the first 2 seasons!

So for those of you who watch the show, what do you think?  Does my wallpaper mani look like the pad at 221b???
I'll have to get back to you all and let you know if I like the show or not.  It took me awhile to get on the Doctor Who bandwagon so we'll see.

Let's go see what everyone else did for their last day of the week!

Digit-al Dozen Does Vintage--Calico!

Hi Everyone!  I'm trying to get caught up here!  I guess my busy life is finally catching up to me!!

Tonight I'm sharing a print that reminds me of my grandma and my great-grandma.  My great-grandma was an excellent seamstress and she sewed alot of dresses for me growing up.  She and my grandma would take me with them to the fabric store and sometimes they let me pick what I liked best.  When we were younger the 3 of us girls and mom included often had matching outfits to wear!  The reality of that is both awesome and horrifying--trust me!

When I think of calico print I think of Laura Ingalls Wilder and times from Little House On The Prairie.  I think of white bonnets and open fields.  But I also think of the sweet Great-Grandma Grove hunched over her ancient Singer sewing machine making something for us girls so that my parents didn't have to spend a fortune on dresses.

Tiny little white flowers with pink centers over a base of Revlon Royal and Darling Diva Denim Mittens and I'm transported back in time!

I haven't even had time to check out what everyone else has done the past couple of days so make sure you stop over with me to see what's up!

Digit-al Dozen Does Vintage--60's!

Hi Everyone!  51 years ago today the best thing in the world happened to me--I was born into a loving family!  Yep 51 years ago I was born to Alan and Sandra Lutze.  I was the first child and first granddaughter on my dad's side.  I was spoiled rotten by my parents and my grandparents.  I grew up in a wonderfully loving family with parents who loved each other as much as they loved me.  They gave me two wonderful sisters to grow up with and who later in life would be my best friends.

It's hard sometimes to have a birthday when they whole family isn't here to share it with you, but in my heart my dad and beautiful sister, Lisa will always be with me.

Tomorrow I'm spending time with my mom and sister and best brother-in-law in the world, Chris.  Hopefully mom doesn't share too many embarrassing teenage years stories when we go out to dinner because of few of my work friends are joining us!

This weekend my son is doing ALL the cooking (but definitely not all the cleaning up) and we're going to do our favorite thing together--Trailer Park Boys weekend marathon!

My Vintage mani for today is 60's style to celebrate me!!!
Watermarbling I'm not the best at lol but it's sort of groovy!

Make sure you stop by and visit all my much younger partners in crime's mani's today!

Digit-al Dozen Does Vintage--Cameo!

Hi Everyone!  I'm sharing a funny story today before posting my mani pic.  True story too!  When I was younger we had a picture of 2 silhouettes hanging in our living room for quite a few years.  One was a boy with short hair and one was a cute girl with long hair and curls.  They were hanging in the living room we were not allowed to go into except when we were naughty and had to sit in the chairs facing each other and not speak to one another.  I'm referring to my partner in crime--my sister Lisa, when I say we were naughty LOL.

A few years ago when I was helping my mom go through some of her boxes I found the silhouettes pressed in book but not in the frame.  And i was like what the heck why did she keep these but get rid of the frames.  So I asked her why she had these silhouettes of the little boy and girl.  And she say's "Laurie that's not a little boy!  This is you and your sister Lisa.  We had these done when you girls were young"

OMG all these years when I looked at those ding dang pictures I thought it was a boy and girl and the "boy" was me!  UG!  I never ever did have nice long hair like Lisa did!

To honor the memory of that poor little "boy's" silhouette here's my Digital-Dozen Vintage mani for today!!! Cameo!
Clearly these are two very lovely ladies facing each other LOL!

Have you ever had something like this happen to you?  You were just living living on your merry way until you found out something about it that wasn't what you thought?!

Be sure to check out the rest of my gang's awesome Vintage mani's!

Digit-al Dozen Does Vintage

Hi Everyone!  Happy Monday!  To we are kicking off our vintage week.  I think this will be a really interesting week, because in the end vintage really is all about what is vintage to you!

I'm kicking my week off with some vintage 50's and that can only mean one thing!!!
The King!!!  I went with some hot pink and black and then had to poll the audience aka my FB friends on whether or not my middle finger looked look boobs or records.  Thankfully records won!

I hope you'll sit back and enjoy the ride this week as we take you on a vintage journey!
