Day 8--Duochrome, Flakie or Holo

Hi Everyone!  Today's Crumpets Nail Tart's Challenge puts us to Day 8 aka Duochrome, Flakie or Holo.  When I first saw this theme I said to myself well why not do all 3?  I think we all know I love duochromes--I especially love Sally Hansen duochromes  huge fan of flakies as well, but holo's not so much.  While it's true I have a lot of holos I just HATE they look like crap indoors!  I spend most of my time indoors working and I'm not out lazing around in the sun enjoying the prismatic effect of a holo for crying out loud!

BUT today I decided to do all three.  I chose Sally Hansen Ruby Sapphire for my duochrome, three nice coats of it, but on my accent nail over 2 coats I did a layer of my favorite flakie--Cult Nails Clairvoyant.
I love a duochrome because it has so much to offer, one color one minute, another color the next
I move my hands all over the place when I wear a duochrome
I stamped another accent nail with Color Club Cloud Nine and Cheeky XL D
While the flash makes the holo come to life with a prismatic blaze, it hides the gorgeous flakie, and buries the 2nd color of the duochrome
I'm not sure why my skin is so golden here either lol!

Back into a shade pic and the duochrome and flakie shine but the holo is DED
Poor, poor holo, you only come out to play in the sun
I guess that's why when it comes to "finishes" I'm always going to want to go with a duochrome or flakie over a holo.  I'm glad I got all three into this mani though, it shines in and out of the light for me!

What's up for tomorrow?
Saran Wrap!  I haven't tried a Saran Wrap mani yet!!!!

Let's see what the other Tart's have come up with for today

The Devil Made Me Do It!

Hey Everyone!! Happy Friday!  Have you been keeping up with the news lately?  A young girl, Amanda Todd, posted a youtube video about her life fraught with cyber bullying before she committed suicide.  She was bullied online, stalked and physically abused at the tender, tender age of 15.  I mean wow 15.  It's horrible, it's sad, and it's oh so wrong.

Sometimes it's hard to imagine what kids can do to kids.  BUT it's even harder for me to fathom what adult women can do to adult women over nail polish! The other day a good friend of mine, a wonderful blogger, was chastised by other women in a nail polish group over a picture she posted.  A lazy day picture, a picture posted in a group and not on her blog.  I mean oh my goodness who do you think you are if you think nail polish goes on without getting on your skin and cuticles sometime?  If you are that anal retentive putting on your polish more power to you!

I'm not.  I have a buttload of clean up when I do a mani.  I love to gradient, and it's virtually impossible not to get it all over especially if you want to do a gradient that looks smooth and seamless.  If you want it to look good it's messy believe you me!

Actually see for yourself!!

This is the super lovely Sally Hansen Scarlet Ruby and Coral Amber gradient.

No clean up and it still looks great!!!!  I mean how can it not?  It's a Sally Hansen prism gradient!!!

After a long time cleaning up--and even then it's not the best clean up this is what it looks like

Ah pretty darn lovely if you ask me!

I had intended on stamping something Halloweeny over this--actually thinking pumpkins.  But then I got to thinking about all this cyber bullying lately and some of these "mean girls" in nail polish groups and I really wanted to go off on a few of them.  I mean OMG who do you think you are?  You're a freaking nail blogger--you're not saving the world for crying out loud.  I love my blog and my readers, I do it for fun.  I don't think I'm too big for my britches EVEN THOUGH my butt's the size of Montana--this is meant to be something light and fun.  Since when did nail polish become a launching pad for snarky ass women to cut other women down?  And why would anyone sit back and watch it go down and let it happen?  Shame, Shame, Shame on you mean girls!

So instead of keeping quiet and saying nothing and stamping some pumpkins over this mani--this is what went down

Whomp Whomp!!! the devil made me do it!!!

I HAD to say something because I don't like it when my friends are treated disrespectfully.  I HAD to say something because young girls are killing themselves over the treatment they receive via the internet.  It's cruel, it's heartless and it's wrong.

Sometimes we all have that devil on our back.  He wants us to say something we know isn't nice.

But remember the golden rule--if you can't say anything nice then don't say anything at all!

I hope you all have a fabulous weekend!!!

I get by with a little help from my friends

Hi Readers! Happy Saturday!  I'm SO late in posting today because I was at my nephew's football game!  They won and it was a gorgeous sunny day today so WIN WIN!  Funny story though Readers, I wore my purple and green Nami Bike & Hike shirt today--the one I got for last week's event.  My little sister says to me "OMG where is your orange or blue shirt?"  Park Panther's colors are orange and blue.  I said "neither one are clean!" (this is what you get working overtime 6am until 4:30pm all week--no clean Park Panther colors) My little sis said "You better hope the other teams colors aren't purple!"  I, in full confidence said, "Don't worry they aren't going to be purple"  We get to the school and OF COURSE the Indian Trail Hawks school colors are black and purple LOL!  It doesn't matter because my nephew's team stomped 'em!  So yes way to go Park Panthers!  And to think I almost work my neon orange with blue crackle!

I have a couple of sweet nail polish friends that sent me the gorgeous Sally Hansen Platinum Plum while my dad was sick in the hospital.  It just so happens it arrived after he passed away and I was SO touched Anisha and Kim thought enough of me to send me something they knew I would love to cheer me up through a difficult time.  Platinum Plum is one of the beautiful Sally Hansen Prisms and it's super pretty!  I used it today on day 15 of the 31 Day Challenge for my Delicate theme!
It's a very lovely plum to steely blue duochrome.  I took this shot before stamping
As with most duochromes they look better over a dark base so I layered this over Cult Nails Vicious--the best purple ever.

Then I stamped using my Peripera  P44 which is a light purple and BAH LING!  Delicate and oh so pretty!

I really love this image from the third bundle monster set BM314

I took some shots of this in shade and sun too!

I love this color and even more so I love the love and thought that went behind getting it to me.  Both Anisha and Kim know how much I love the old prisms and it's my dream to one day own them all.  Thanks to them this mani is SO pretty!

What's up tomorrow in the 31 Day Challenge?

Hmmmm tribal--I hope I can pull something off!

Thanks for stopping by!  Hope you're having a great weekend!

Funny thing happened on the way to the Sunday Challenge

Hi Readers! Remember yesterday's post with the Sally Hansen prisms I used for our jewel theme? Well I had done a mani I really loved and intended to stamp over it BUT honestly I loved it too much to stamp over it!  Since I was trying a few things yesterday I decided to save this gem to show you today.  This is just a gradient and nothing else but sometimes simplicity is all you need.  It was my intention to do a duochrome gradient and then stamp over it using another duochrome BUT this was too lovely to do anything to.  My duochrome gradient is Sally Hansen prisms Amber Ruby and Scarlet Ruby and as with all duochromes they really come to life in both light and shade.  Up first is the shade
I love this gold to red look
I used a base of black first to help the duochromes find their inner beauty
It sort of matched the colors on my laptop case!
I really couldn't stop staring at how pretty it was
I'm impressed with how seamless the gradient is

Now for the light pics
A TOTALLY different look yet really almost the same!
So sparkly!
I think we are nuts as a whole to care more about our health than these non 3 Free beauties LOL!
Dear Sally Hansen why can't you make something like this again??? WHY??!!

This was just WAY too lovely to stamp over. And you all know I don't say that very often!

Duochromes are my thing just like gradients--I can't live without 'em!

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you all have a fantastic day!

Sunday Stamping Challenge is jewels!

Hi Readers!  The theme voted on for today's Adventures In Stamping Facebook challenge is jewels.  Pretty much anything goes as long as it's jewel related.  I expect to see a lot of cool things!  I was trying to figure out what exactly I wanted to do for this challenge and my first though was an Illamasqua skittles because Baptiste, Phallic, Viridian and Scarab are all precious and semi-precious stone colors.  While in the process of thinking what I could do with that I came up with a completely different idea.  Almost all of my Sally Hansen prisms (my precious) have jewel names so what better way to celebrate Jewel day than with polishes named after jewels?????  To amp it up I decided to haul out the WetnWild Coloricon duochrome glitter polishes I used just the other day and do some gradienting with them.  Here's what I came up with for today's challenge
This is a skittle of sorts using Sally Hansen Turquoise Opal, Ruby Sapphire, and Emerald Amethyst.  On the Turquoise Opal I gradiented with Bow In My Presence which has the same turquoise to purple shift.  On the Ruby Sapphire I used Speak When Spoken To which has the same blue to red shift and for Emerald Amethyst I used Born Into Privilege which is a greeny gold.  I have to say out of all of them my favorite combination is the Emerald Amethyst and Born Into Privilege.

Of course duochromes really come to life in the shade which is why I think I love them so much!  What other polish can you wear when it looks awesome in the freaking shadows??? NONE!!!! Take that stupid holos!

The Emerald Amethyst shift is really noticeable here with the purple and green.
The light really draws out the turquoise color in Turquoise Opal

This is just a lovely skittles gradient I think.  I can't wait to try this again and use just Emerald Amethyst and Born Into Privelege and stamp over it

What do you think of this one readers? After yesterday's mani it's nice to see a lovely gradient LOL!

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you all have a fantastic day!

It's a great gradient day!

Hi Readers!   The girls and I got together again for another group project and we decided on gradients!! WOOT!  As you all know I am horribly addicted to gradients and it sure doesn't appear that I'll be stopping anytime soon.  I think today's gradient is going to surprise you though.  I love it so much I am not going to stamp over it.  That's right absolutely no stamping.  I'm sure you'll be able to tell why lol!  I've done some really pretty gradients (with the exception of the craptastic pastel one).  I've done some nice creams and scattered holos so today I thought "hey what about a duochrome gradient?"  "can it even be done????!!!!!"  Yes--YES Readers, it can be done.  Behold the glory that is a duochrome gradient
I chose my beloved Sally Hansen Burgundy Orchid, Garnet Lapis and Turquoise Opal for my gradient.  Not much to say other than to show you the pics!
These few are all indoor with natural lighting
This is what happened when I went outside to run errands
OMG did you see that??? Why oh why does all the world think the real beauty is in holographic polishes???? Look how this sparkles in the sun!!!
Here's one thing I did discover--tipped just right where in the sun it's hard to see the gradient.
Instead there's just a gorgeous shimmery, sparkly burgundy!
Here's a picture of the stars of the show!
Left to right Sally Hansen Burgundy Orchid, Garnet Lapis and Turquoise Opal.  Poor Garnet Lapis is naked but that's okay he likes it like that.
I used one nice thick coat of WetnWild Black Creme before doing my gradient as the Sally Hansen Prisms really come to life over black.

What do you think Readers?  Do you think a duochrome gradient is the shizz or is this not your cup of tea?  Can you see why I needed no stamping necessary for this beauty?

Thanks for stopping by!! I hope you all have a fantastic day!!  Make sure you check out all the gradients my friends did!
