What's new with you?

Hi Everyone!

Oh my gosh I'm so sorry I've been so absent lately!  I recently got a job! Yep a real job too! No more working my butt off for someone who's not going to hire me because I don't have a degree agency job for me.  Which is excellent and I really enjoy it and have great coworkers to boot.  The downside is oh my gosh when I get home I'm tired and then I stress out between doing my nails and reading.  If you know me you know I love to read.  Truth is if I had to pick between doing my nails and reading, reading is going to win.  So I've been sort of lacking in the doing my nails area which sucks!  But last night I decided to haul out my favorite polish of all time  OPI's Vampire State Building and try to do something I could wear this time of year with the lovely vampy red.

And I found it!  I did some easy gradient access nail tribal stamping to give this a summer feel even though it's a dark Fall color!
Here's the gorgey town Vampire State Building.  It's my favorite polish EVAH!
Others have come close to it but they just aren't quite there with the exact color
That's okay because I have 2 bottles of this baby and I try to only wear her a couple times a year.

I love my little kokopelli guy too!  Check him out banging away on his drum!
I have a crack on the side of my pinkie right in the meat! OH MY LANTA!  I had to try to save him which is why I'm sporting the glue wart for awhile.  I don't know about you but all I can see is a ginormous pinkie!
I believe I took some images from Mariannes, Shany and Mash to come up with my hot southwestern look

I hope to post more often but just in case I don't, fear not it's just me having to wear a  mani for a few days like everyone else in the real world LOL!

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you all have an excellent day!

The Digit-al Dozen Does Neon--When things aren't what they seem

Hi Everyone!  Today I have a super cool thing to show you!  It will amaze you! It will blow you out of the water! You will not believe it!!!!!  I have a really super nice and way cool polish buddy.  You might have heard of her -- Beaching Nails aka Sandy Beach.  Sandy is on a one woman mission to create as many nail techniques as possible LOL.  This gurl never sleeps I kid you not!  Awhile ago she posted a video on the Beach Sun Spray technique.  Oh you know a technique where you put something on your nails that looks exactly like  nail polish only it isn't! It's not nail polish at all!

Here's a shot of my with my first ever Beach Sun Spray mani can you guess what I used???
Looks like a neon nail polish mani doesn't it?????

What do you think it is--nail wraps?  Nope!
Water decals??? Nope!
The Beach Sun Spray technique is actually done using permanent markers aka Sharpie's on a make up sponge and then spraying with rubbing alcohol and dabbing onto your nail!!!!!!!!!

Are you shocked?????? Are you amazed????????
It's just so simple I can hardly stand it!  All I did was paint my nails white and then following the technique which can be found HERE I drew on a makeup sponge and then sprayed it with rubbing alcohol and then I sponged on to get my gradient.  SUPER EASY PEASY!  I stamped over it because you know me I'm all about the stamping hahahaha!   What do you think???? Did you guess it was markers????

The Digit-al Dozen Does Neon--The rainbow of our lives

Hi Everyone today is bad day/sad day for me.  6 years ago today I said goodbye to my beautiful sister, Lisa.  I don't like to say she passed away because honestly if you've ever watched anyone battle and then die from cancer they don't "pass away".  They do not go gently into that goodnight. Their bodies fight like hell until the very last breath to stay alive--so no one who succumbs to cancer simply passes away.

Sometimes in the rainbows of our lives we get dealt a heavy blow.  We lose someone we love and even though you have to put on the big front and go to work and act okay or spend time with your friends and family and act okay inside you are dying a little bit each day.  While we love so much we also grieve.  Where there is great love and joy there is also sadness.

Today I am wearing the rainbow of my life.  My accent nail is the grief I carry everyday over the loss of my sister, my very beautiful sister Lisa, my best friend.  She can never be replaced.

I will think of her today with both sadness and joy.  I will remember how she was one of the very best things about my life for almost 45 years.  I will remember her smile, her laughter, and her gentle nature.  But I will also remember she could not spell for shizz and she had no clue where anything was in the world geography wise.  I will remember while she was an exceptionally snazzy dresser she once over cooked ring bologna until it split and under cooked the macaroni so it was crunchy.

I will remember she could keep a secret and took many of them-probably thousands of them with her.  I will remember she was the strongest fighter I have ever met but I will also remember she used to wear Candie's high heeled sandals with knit shorts.  I will remember she loved unconditionally but I will also remember she couldn't drive stick shift to save her life.

Everyday even though there is goodness and light--love and joy there is also a black pit of despair for what I can never have again in this life.  I may not always wear it on the outside but everyday I live this rainbow--the rainbow of my life

I used some of the China Glaze Electric Nights for my neon rainbow and topped it with China Glaze Fairy Dust because Fairy Dust makes everything better
My accent nail is done using the "bird's nest" technique which I first saw this technique that didn't have a name in a video posted on Minhas unhas Facebook page that you can check out HERE  She does some pretty cool things!  But basically you just drop 2 or three drops of polish onto parchment paper or silicone baking sheet and swirl and swirl and swirl until the polish starts to dry and you can draw patterns in it.  Let it dry and apply like a decal
I applied mine over a coat of white
Thankfully the sun was out for about 20 minutes today so i got some nice pictures of this.

To any of you who also live this rainbow daily my heart goes out to you.  Loving someone and losing them is never easy.  And no matter what anyone says time does not heal all wounds.  Some wounds never heal but I truly believe one day we will be together again and that's why I still have joy and hope in my life right alongside the grief and despair

The Digit-al Dozen Does Neon--Spiral Staircase!

Hi Everyone!  My long awaited FUN plates are finally here and I am just elated!  I always love new stuff from Fab Ur Nails.  Johanne comes up with the coolest designs too.  I knew right away I wanted to try something with the staircase looking design on FUN 16. Since I managed to nail my radial gradient yesterday I decided to go for it again and SUCCESS! Omg! I better watch out  because lightning might strike me!

I used some of the China Glaze Electric Nights for this Plur-PLE, Glow With The Flow, Home Sweet House Music and Daisy Know My Name and then stamped with my beloved Mundo de Unas black and FUN 16 and look how fun this is!
Ooooh isn't this cool?????!!!!
Best place to get a shot was in my bedroom with the sun coming through the blinds.  Can you spy the cat butt on my bed???

These two jerks were sleeping when I was working my butt off making mani magic!
Roscoe on the left Rufus on the right!

Now back to the mani pics! I mean that is why we're here right????!!!!
I actually think stamping over a radial really helps it look like a success
This might just be one of my fave images evah! Oh Oh BM 221 there's a new sheriff in town!
All in all super happy with how this one turned out, even if the cats could have cared less!

The Digit-al Dozen Does Neon--Monkey See, Monkey Do Monday The Polished Pineapple!

Hi Everyone!  Happy Monday!  This week is neon week for The Digit-al Dozen. I don't know about any of your but neon is not big on my to do list when it comes to nail polish.  I don't know why but it  might be because I'm more of a dark colors, Fall season lover than I am bright colors and Summer season.  My friend Jennifer aka The Polished Pineapple did this totally cool neon mani awhile back with China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy.   I still have the old version which makes me happy because that was one kick ass neon polish!  I decided to recreate Jen's mani only I tweaked mine a bit so it would match my work clothes.  She used light grey for her stamping but I went with the dark
Check out how cool this is!
Nothing says neon like me having to take pics of it in the shade for it to look right LOL!  One of these days I might just not eat for two months and buy and DSLR camera but not today!
I'm pretty sure China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy was the first neon I ever bought!
This is super bright and really fun actually.
I stamped with one of my new favorite plates GoGo Only St Merry

You can find The Polished Pineapple on FB HERE She is super duper nice and comes up with some awesome mani's!   If you are on IG you find her there as well!!

I know a lot of my Digit-al Dozen friends love neon so this week is sure to be a good one!
