Laissez les bons temps rouler!

Good morning everyone!!  I don't speak French so I can only hope this says Let the good times roll!  I googled it so I should be safe.  This morning it is cold and snowy here.   I got up at the butt crack of dawn thanks to the naughty cats AND probably the fact I fell asleep at 10pm.  Let me just tell you the Kindle Fire hurts when it hits your face.  My old Sony Reader didn't hurt that bad when I fell asleep while reading and it dropped onto me--the Kindle Fire A WHOLE DIFFERENT STORY!

Yesterday I had toyed with the idea of doing a Mardi Gras gradient then decided to wait until today.  Since I was up so early I decided to go for it AND it does not disappoint.
I used Illamasqua Viridian and Baptiste for this and an unnamed Pure Ice
The colors are so rich!
Mardi Gras means Fat Tuesday in French.  It is the celebration of eating the last of the fatty, rich foods before the Lenten season where some Christian religions practice fasting
Mardi Gras is a HUGE celebration in New Orleans.  The city celebrates with a huge parade where people dress up and wear masks and toss out beads and trinkets
The colors of Mardi Gras are green, gold and purple.  Green is for Faith, Gold is for Power and Purple is for Justice
I'm pretty happy with how this turned out.  I think using the rich colors of the Illamasqua's really helped!
For good measure I took a shot with flash

Today we're watching the Superbowl.  I'm definitely not cheering for the San Francisco 49'ers who beat the Packers.  I'm rooting for the Ravens all the way!  I hope this mani gives them some good luck!

Thanks for stopping by!!! I hope you all have a fantastic day!

  1. As a girl who has spent many a February in New Orleans, I gotta say.... LOVE THIS MANICURE!
First, I suck at gradients, and yours looks awesome!
Second, you picked PERFECT colors. They're awesome.
Third. You rock. Also, I'm a little in love with your nails. I can't lie.

  2. They postponed Mardi Gras for the Super Bowl! Can you believe that? The church didn't change Lent though, so somebody got the short end of the stick. Thanks for reminding me though, I have a nice purple, gold and green glitter to slap over my Raven gold and purple.
