Meet The Chins!

Hi Everyone!  For my last mani of the month I'm hauling out all the cuteness I can muster.  My Animal Guardian Mani today is--chinchilla!  I have 10 very cute, very furry and very lovable chinchillas.  Do I think I have too many--NO

The everyday average Joe probably doesn't have 10 chinchillas, but I can also tell you there are everyday average Joe's with a lot more!  Mine are pets.  I don't really care about their fur quality (although their fur health is important to me).  I don't care if they are large or small, and I don't breed them.

They bring me a great deal of joy just by being their naturally cute self and while babies are quite cute, there are ALOT of things that can wrong in breeding.  I just don't want to (ever) open up that can or worms.

I have several colors--beige, light tan, white mosiac, pink white, violet, ebony and standard.  I have 6 girls and 4 boys.  My girls have cagemates and live together in peaceful harmony--my boys fight with each other so separate cages for each of them.

All of them live in the bedroom with me.  Yep every single one of them.  I have 2 enormous cages that each have 3 separate units and I have a small cage for one boy with special needs.  My special needs boy, Herman, was born with only one complete limb.  He only has one whole back leg.  Yep that's right, he doesn't have paws and he's missing the foot on his other back limb.  Despite all the odds stacked against him,  Herman is a happy and healthy chinchilla.  He can run and hop but we worry about him jumping and breaking the only good limb he has therefore he's in a small cage.

My mani today is the best chinchilla I could get on a finger--I think we all know when it comes to freehand I just don't have the skills!
The first Essie I ever bought--can you guess the name?
Not really a standard chinchilla color but it will do!
Chinchillas have LOTS of whiskers, I just couldn't fit in on my little guy!

Now what you really want to see--my chinchilla crew!

Bobo is my first chinchilla.  I was told she was a boy hence the name LOL!  Because they told me she was a boy she was put in with a boy I had--Gordon before I learned all about being a good chinchilla owner--Bobo had a daughter GiGi.
Sadly Gordon was injured in a recliner--again when I didn't know about being a good chinchilla owner, and he had to be put down. GiGi stands for Gordon's Girl and she looks an awful lot like her daddy.
Abigail is the next girlie I got
I lovingly refer to her as my "charlie brown Christmas tree" chinchilla because she has bad everything lol!  She had some bad teeth for a while but those are fine now, she's missing some toes and she has really awful fur for the chinchilla world, BUT she's my adorable girl and I love her!

Abigail lives with Solange, who we refer to as Princess Solange.  She is the total opposite of Abigail--she has stunning fur and is quite gorgeous, albeit very shy
Here's on of my favorite pics of the girls together sleeping in their hammock!
Now those are some cute nose's!

The next girlie I got is Bronwyn.  She is a white mosiac--a very lovely girl
But check out that pic on the bottom!  She loves to sleep like this in her tube LOL!  Bronwyn is a cage mate with Baby Lisa.

Baby Lisa isn't a baby.  She is named after my beautiful sister, Lisa, who died from breast cancer in 2009.  Baby Lisa was born on the 4th of July and was given to me by a dear friend on mine who knew I wanted a pink white girl to name after Lisa.  My sister Lisa saw baby pictures of her before she died on July 15th.  The day I brought Baby Lisa chin home to live with us was on my sister Lisa's, birthday
She is a fat rollie pollie girl who HATES taking her dust bath!  Oh my goodness she is so haggy looking most of the time lol!

I swore I was going to ever have boys again after Gordon.  But I knew someone looking for a home for their chinchilla, Lenny.  Her daughter became severely allergic to him.  I had no intentions of getting him as I had just purchased Solange.  But when I found out they were feeding him mini marshmallows and popcorn as a treat I drove right out there and picked him up.  He's the oldest chinchilla I have--he's an old man at the ripe age of 13
Leonard is by far the goofiest guy we have!  He loves to sleep in all sorts of weird ways, especially loves his fishbowl in the summer!
My other 2 boys I actually got together, Mick St John--yes named after the TV Vampire Private Detective--you know back when Moonlight was on and was SO cool but stupid CBS cancelled it BEFORE the vampire craze took off!  And Wesley.  They were born just a month apart and the lived together in harmony for about a year.  But then they started fighting and had to be separated.

Mick St. John can be a real handful sometimes!!!!
While Wesley is the complete opposite and real sweetheart.

Here they are in better times, when they got along LOL!

Last but not least is my sweet boy Herman.  His smaller cage has a couple of shelves for him to jump on and he loves to sleep in a fleece tube like everyone else.  He doesn't have a wheel, nor does he have a hammock
You should be able to see his lack of appendages in some of these pics.  It doesn't matter though, he's the same as all my chinchillas, nothing stops him from getting around!

This is a shot of the tower o chins in my room.  They fit in there just fine
So that's it!  That's all my chinchilla crew! I love them and they give us a lot of enjoyment!

Thanks for stopping by!! I hope you all have a fantastic day!

Monkey See, Monkey Do Monday--Colors de Carol (AGAIN!)

Hi Everyone!!! Happy Monday!  Today for my MSMD mani I'm sort of copy Carol from Colores de Carol.  I didn't have the colors she used or the image plate BUT I still made it work LOL!  Many of you might now when I first got into stamping I religiously copied many manicures and designs done by Carol and Cristina from Let Them Have Polish.  Image my complete joy when they both befriended me!  It's like meeting the Queen I tell ya!  Two Queens at that!

Today I copied a mani Carol had done a few months ago and I just love how it turned out!
Carol used OPI Anti-Bleak which I don't have so instead I used the lovely Casino Royale
My nubbins don't look too bad dressed up in Bond!
I stamped using Color Club Cloud 9 and Mash-41
I'm pretty sure Casino Royale will be my favorite dark plum of all time!
Carole used a Gals image plate which I don't have so I had to wing it, but I think it turned out great.

Here's a side by side comparison pic--hmmmm I might still have to get Anti-Bleak, it's quite lovely!
If you didn't catch the post by Carol the first time with this fantastic mani please find it here!

Tomorrow's the last day of the month and my last chance for a chinchilla mani for my Animal Guardian Ribbon--can I pull it off??????!!!!

Thanks for stopping by!! I hope you all have a fantastic day!

Shoes I'd never wear!

Hi Everyone!!!  Today is Sunday and you know what that means!!! Adventures In Stamping Facebook Group Challenge and the theme is . . . your favorite shoes.  Well I'm an old lady now and really don't have cool shoes anymore lol!  I've been wearing your basic black with good support for work shoes LOL.  BUT I did do some searching and found a pair of Louboutin snakeskin heels that are to die for gorg even if I'd never wear them!
Look at those nubs *shakes fist in air*  how sad
I sure hope they grow out fast!

Here's a pic of one of the shoes I used for inspiration
What do you think?  How'd I do?
I think this turned out pretty kick ass!

My red was China Glaze Salsa, and I stamped with DRK-B and Cheeky XL D

Another shoe pic for comparison!
All in all this was a really fun mani to do and MUCH better than plain old boring black shoes!

Here's one last side by side!!!

Thanks for stopping by!! I hope you all have a fantastic day!

What exactly is a Punk Rock?

Hi Everyone!  I would love to say happy Saturday BUT early this morning at 4am WHILE I WAS SLEEPING a great tragedy befell Mr Pinkie.  I don't know what happened but we lost him in the wee hours of the morning!  So now here I am in the real world with nubbins *shudders*  Naturally I have a few posts I didn't get up before this happened.  Today's mani is one of them.  So tomorrow when I post my AIS challenge with short nubbins try not to be too freaked out LOL!

I had done this mani awhile ago actually and thought about it for an Autism Awareness mani.  When I showed a few of polish friends they told me it looked "punk"  UM I'm not really sure what "punk" is but here's the mani!
I used the luscious Pure Ice French Kiss and Zoya Dove at the recommendation of blue and grey from my friend Ashley!  GREAT IDEA, ASH!
I have been wanting to use my safety pin image from DRK-B so I thought these colors were perfect for that!
I topped a few nails with Cover Band's Sticks n Stones and BAM
A star is born!

I'm sad about my break this morning BUT it also gives me a chance to use some plates I have that are just too small for my nails now!

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you all have a great weekend!

Pretty Pretty Peacock!

Hi Everyone!!! Happy Friday!  I am super happy it's Friday!  We are "supposed" to have some nice weather this weekend aka sun "could" be out!  I still have quite a few of the China Glaze Hologlams to try as well as a couple of holo Layla's I haven't worn yet, so here's hoping I can find the time to do something with them this weekend!

Today I went with a cool textured gradient.  I really love the Julie G Gumdrops I have, they are just SO cool and you can do so much with them.
Here I did a "rough" gradient, basically I just painted them directly onto my nail, no taping involved
This is Blueberry Fizz, Rock Candy and Crushed Candy

I stamped over it with BM212, one of my fave Bundle Monster images
I love stamping on the textureds
It really gives them an extra pop!
And this image doesn't take away from the pretty gradient
I love the Textured polishes SO much i think this weekend I'll go in search of the Bond girls!

What do you all think--are you a fan of the textured polishes?

Thanks for stopping by!! I hope you all have a great weekend!

Sunny AND 60!!!

Well "almost" 60!  Hi Everyone!  Welcome to hump day!  I have to say with this mani I love it when a plan does not come together!  I wanted to do some cool stamping over a bunch of the Sinful Colors Sugar Rush colors and one I had them on BLECH! It did not look good at all!  I decided to try to save mine by saran wrapping white over everything.  It worked!  It looked SO MUCH BETTER when the colors were muted and blended by the white

I used a dab of almost every one of the Sinful Colors Sugar Rush in random spots on a sponge and dabbed it on.  Because I didn't like how they blended at all I covered it in white and then saran wrapped the Snow Me White and came up with this look
This really looked a lot better to me
And you know how I feel about pastels!
I didn't stop here though!  As soon as I had this look I remembered a way cool mani I had seen in AIS by my friend Diane from Polish Sickness.  So I decided to recreate her look even though I went about it completely different than her and I stamped over it with Snow Me White and DRK-A
By the time I had finished this mani it was WAY too late to be taking more pics so I had to take them at work lol!
I honestly think the lighting there was better for these pics!
And I don't know why but this look reminds me of a dinosaur's eggs even though I've never seen dinosaur eggs!
I think I'm going to try the old saran wrap trick more often when a failed mani occurs--this was a nice save.

What do you think?  Do you like it with or without the stamping better?

Thanks for stopping by!! I hope you all have a fantastic day!

Roughed Up Ruffian!

Hi Everyone!  Today I'm sporting a couple of things I really love--a Ruffian and a textured polish!  I hauled out one of my OPI Suedes and one of the Julie G Gumdrops and got to work.  I chose OPI Russian Navy and Julie G Blueberry Fizz.  The result turned out better than I had hoped!
I don't know about any of you but if OPI was going to bring something back I sure wish it was either the Suedes or the original holo Designer Series.  But truthfully I really want the Suedes back!  OMG I love them!  Can you just imagine how gorgeous some bright summer colored Suedes would look???
I hope to work opposite for this look and put Russian Navy on first and then using a 3 hole punch reinforcement tab I added the Blueberry Fizz
I like this mani alot but felt I got a bit too much Blueberry Fizz on the swear finger!  Don't you hate it when one finger can ruin it for the rest?
I do love the look of these two types of finishes together though--what do you think?

I really love the textured polishes.  I have some of the Kiko's on their way to me and I really think I need the Bond's and the Pixie Dusts . . . OIY!  That's a lot of gritty polishes LOL!

Thanks for stopping by!! I hope you all have a fantastic day!
