Jeepers Creepers!

Hi Everyone! Happy Sunday!!  It's a very cloudy and rainy day here today so I'm staying in.  We've got some Packer football coming up this afternoon and I'm thinking of either making some tacos or chili.  I can make the tacos lowcarb by not eating the tortillas the chili is a different matter. I love beans in my chili dark red kidney beans and black beans so it wouldn't be carb friendly but it seems like such a great day for chili! Decisions! Decisions!

Something that was not so hard to decide on was this creepy mani I did.  I usually like the more cute Halloween mani's but every once in a while I like to get in a creepy or scary one.  I might try another one again before Halloween but for now this is my scary/creepy mani of this Halloween season
I sort of kept adding to this one and it turned out better than I thought it would!
I used a few differnt plates for this Winstonia, EDM, Bundle Monster Messy Mansion and I did free hand the fence

I could have had a teeny mouse the owl was hunting for but I don't "do" the circle of life so mushrooms it is!
As I like to do I did find a picture I used for inspiration and here it is
If I could have had smaller images or longer nails I might have tried to add the pumpkins

Group photo with nails and plate what do you think?  Did I nail it?

What kind of Halloween mani person are you?  Do you like sweet and cutesy or do you like scary and gory?

Thanks for stopping by!  Hope you all have a fantastic day!

Halloween Skittles

Hi Everyone!  Since I've been enjoying the low carb high fat life these days  there will be no real Skittles for me on Halloween so I had to make do with a cute Halloween skittles mani instead.  I have to say this mani I did is way cuter than skittles taste  LOL

I used about a zillion plates for this LOL.  I know some people are very skilled with hand dotting but I am definitely not one of those people

I thought  about adding this super cute spider image I have then decided against it at the  last minute
But then I thought of another idea I have to use the cute spider image so please stand by for that one!

So living the low carb life means no Skittles or Reese's peanut butter cups for Halloween but  living the low carb life means bacon bacon bacon and more bacon so it's definitely a fair trade

I'm down 51 lbs since starting my  low carb journey in February so I'd say I'm doing just fine without any candy

Thanks for stopping by!  Hope  you all have a fantastic day!

Polish Con or Bust!

So a few a few weeks ago I drove down to Chicago with some newly made friends to hit up Polish Con. If you aren't familiar with Polish Con this is an event featuring Independent Nail Polish Makers.  So far they are having this event in the Chicago area every Fall and then other cities in the Spring. They recently named New York for Spring 2017. Since Chicago is a little more than an hour drive for me Chicago is always doable. In  fact the gals I drove down with and I are already talking about road tripping again next year!

I've been really busy at work as well as helping out my mom after gall  bladder surgery so I really haven't stamped my nails much but I have been wearing some of the really exceptional polishes I got at the Con! I thought I would share of a few of the ones I bought as well as the polishes from the VIP bag

First up is the mani I wore to the Con itself.  It matched the top I was wearing that day

There was really only 1 must have polish for me before I left for the event and that was Lollipop  Posse's Give The Lady What She Wants.  OMG when I saw pictures of this polish I fell instantly in love with it and it did not disappoint!

It is a deep vampy bordeaux crelly type polish with a freaking teal shimmer!!! Winner! Winner! Chicken Dinner!!

Once I got to the Con there were other polishes that hadn't been on my radar I had to snag.  This next one is one of them.  Seriously I died when I picked up this polish and held it in my hands.  It did not hurt at all it was from Darling Diva as I love and adore Carrie and she never disappoints.

This is Corvis and honestly you can't even describe it it's so dang gorgeous!  It's a black jelly base filled with green, blue, pink ultra chrome flakies as well as holo micro glitter.  Seriously I died when I put this on!!
This polish to me is 100% the Universe in a bottle!

Carrie just loves aliens so I decided to put a little image that reminded me of something out of Alien on a couple of accent nails!
Soooooo cool!!!!

Here's another one I didn't know I needed until I was standing at the table looking at it.  This is Alter Ego's Vegas Showgirl and this thing is FULL OF BLING!  Oh my goodness it is SO stunning and actually completely different than all of the others I bought.  I tended to go for the dark vampy  Fall colors but this is completely the opposite
Best pics I got of this baby were sitting in the living  room by the window as the sun was shining in!
This one is such a stunner!

Out of the bunch of purchases I  bought at Polish Con this CBL exclusive is definitely one of my faves.  I did see a picture of this before the event and knew I wanted it and I was not disappointed in this beauty at all!

This is just a really lovely color and perfect for Fall and Winter!
And this baby  has a slight shift to gold to her! Yep in certain light you get a warmer colder burgundy
I love it and why I say it's perfect for fall.  In fact I did some Fall leaves stamping over it!
Our leaves aren't changing too much here in Southeastern Wisconsin just yet but I suspect that will change starting this week

I'm working today to get some more swatching done of my Polish Con purchases as well as some polishes from the VIP bag.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I hope you all have a fantastic day!

Game Day!

Hi Everyone!! It's game day here in Packer country and while this would normally be a day full of fun it's also the 15th anniversary of the Sept 11 attacks. It's a somber day mixed in with the fun.  But this is also how the world works. For every day of joy is someone's day of sorrow.  I wanted to support my team today but also show my patriotism and reflect on the sorrow on 9/11

I used Zoya Song and Giovanni for my blue and green and OPI Wocka Wocka for my red. Some Dashica SdP and FUN stamping along with my custom Packer plate with Mundo White and Yellow
Not sure if anyone is watching the Packer Jaguars game is pretty intense!  My sister and brother in law are in Florida for the game I'm sure they are having a great time
Sort of missing my square nails today so you could see all of the Go Pack Go down at the tip but I'll live with it LOL!

Thanks for stopping by!  Hope you all have a great day!

Family Fun Day!

Hi Everyone! Happy Saturday!  Today is my mom's birthday so we'll be getting together later to have some dinner and play some games.  It's a bit challenging celebrating my mom's birthday because on my mom's 18th birthday her mother died.  I never met my Grandma Shaw but I know she was deeply loved by my mother and her death especially on her birthday was a crushing blow.

My mom's sister, Lynette, or as we love to call her Aunt Net, came down from Menomonee Falls last night and is spending the weekend with her.  Trust me when these two gals get together there is a lot of jaw jacking and definitely some fun times.

Before the get together I'm going over to my sister's house and we are doing a DIY spa day along with my niece.  These are the times I love!  My family hardly ever asks me to do their nails but today we are doing pedi's for sure and maybe even a mani will get snuck in.

I've been kind of lacking in the nail art department lately.  Not really sure why.  I never not have my nails painted but sometimes I don't have any art on them or sometimes I have the same art on them for almost a week *GASP*

I have been very dedicated to losing weight so I am walking quite a bit these days and that walking may just get in the way of me wanting to sit down and paint my nails and then do some stamping.  I'm also reading a lot more than I used to which makes me INSANELY happy but it seems like more and more little things are taking over my nail art life.  I'm hoping to find that perfect balance out there that's for sure!

This is a mani I did the other day because I just needed something fun and quick.  Gradient stamping always seems to do the trick when you want something that looks like it was complex when really it isn't

My base is the pretty Pahlish Divination from the Bespoke line, I am a huge of pastel polishes with the chrome flakies in them.  I wish someone would do them in every single pastel color imaginable!
I did some gradient stamping with Mundo de Unas Pastel Blue, Holland Blue and Purple with FUN 15
I like doing just a couple of accent nails over a non cream base so you can see both the art and then the beauty of the base color on it's own
And I'm not going to lie it's quicker so then I have more time to walk and read LOL!

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you all have a fantastic day!

Elvis4ever

Hi Everyone

Today is the 39th anniversary of Elvis' death.  If you've been reading my blog for the past few years you know I am a HUGE Elvis fan.  I have been since I was 7 years old.  I never thought that at 14 years of age my only dream of seeing him in concert would be forever dimmed but my dream died on August 16, 1977

People I went to grade school and high school with will still come up to me and ask me if I still like Elvis--and of course I tell them yes.  Once you become and Elvis fan you are a fan for life.

Here's my in memory mani for this August 16, 2016
I truly love Elvis.  I could listen to him 24/7 until the day I die
The one and only King of Rock & Roll
Gone way too soon, but his music lives on!

Missing In Action!

Hi Everyone!  Looks like I've been missing in action for a bit.  July and August are some pretty depressing months for me having lost my sister in July and my dad in August so I tend to do the whole bury my head in the sand in the summer.  It's kind of odd how when you're sad you just don't feel like doing anything at all.  I always read.  Read, read, read and read actually but getting some art on my nails not so much.

So let me fill you in on what's been going on the past few weeks.  Well I am not officially addicted to the Fitbit!  Yes it's true!  I can't believe that when I first started walking I couldn't even go 2000 steps a day.  When I first started I actually could not walk a lot every day because I was just too worn out.  Now I am regularly walking at least 10000 steps a day and I've even made it to 15000 a couple of times.  My "off" days are not less then 10000.  And it really is showing.  I am down 39lbs and can't believe how much better I feel.  More energy and less pain in my back and joints.

I spent the day with my mom on July 15th--the day my beautiful sister, Lisa, died.  We had a really nice day sharing Lisa memories, going to lunch and then going to see Ghost Busters on the big screen.  Yep I ate a bucket of popcorn but instead of eating a lot of really bad for me food that day all I ate was the popcorn.  As always it was delicious.  Mom and I both thought the movie was great.  To all the naysayers out there the women only cast reboot was funny and fabulous.

This year's work outing was going to see the Kenosha Kingfisher's baseball team.  I sort of felt bad because almost all my coworkers had to drive up from Illinois but for me the baseball diamond is two blocks away LOL. I work a cute top and jeans--YES my mom bought me a cute pair of jean capris when we were together so I wore them to the game--and did this dry brush stroke mani to match the top.

When I first did this I thought I sucked!
But after I got the top on I couldn't believe how close all the colors were LOL
I like the dry brush stroke method because you can get a really unique look without a lot of effort
I should have had the forethought to take pics of this mani with the top but NOPE not smart enough to do that LOL

Thanks so much for stopping by--I hope you all have a fantastic day!
