Monkey See, Monkey Do Monday--My friend Jen!!

Hi everyone!  Welcome to the Digital Dozen Does Fashion!  I am SO thrilled I'm able to do a Monkey See, Monkey Do Monday post with fashion!!  My friend Jen from Jen's Wonderland bought a pair of awesome shoes and super cool purse about a week ago and she was kind enough to share pics with her friends on Facebook.  The minute I saw the shoes I knew I wanted to try to try to recreate the look on a mani.  How exciting for me to share with you all my first "fashion" mani!!
Look at those studs!!!!  Don't they look fantastic on the black matte?!
This is the picture Jen posted of her new shoes and purse
How'd I do???!!!!
I used the gorgeous Black Dagger by Soflajo for my black matte--it's the best black matte EVAH!
Thumbie looks like the purse
And now for the best part!!!! MY REAL LIFE MODEL, JEN!!!!!!
Aren't those shoes kick ass???!!!!

Here's a pic of us all together--Jen and my mani!

I was really worried about this month's Digit-al Dozen theme because last month my friends in the challenge kicked my butt!  I'm pleased that I was able to pull this beauty off!!!

But we'll have to see who reigned supreme today!!!

Love With All Your Heart

Hi Everyone, a sad day for me today.  A year ago today my father died.  I've taken the day off of work to be with my mom and quite honestly because I have been suffering this whole week.  My father was a great man, kind, loving, gentle, passionate, supportive, strong--he was every good thing you can imagine under the sun.  He died due to complications of chemotherapy.  His first chemotherapy treatment put him in the hospital and he never came home.  It's very hard to watch someone you love die in front of your eyes.  And while this is not the first time it's happened to me--as my beautiful sister, Lisa, died of breast cancer 4 years ago, this has been harder on me than Lisa's passing.  Lisa suffered for years.  She fought against her cancer for 8 years and the last year was a terminal diagnosis and seeing her wither away to nothing in front of me was awful.  In the end I was so glad for my sister's death as she was finally free from the pain and suffering.

My father's death was sudden and unexpected.  While he did have leukemia that needed to be treated, we had been assured a few times most likely his cancer would outlive him.  His chemotherapy treatment put him in renal failure.  He was admitted to the ICU and was given dialysis which actually saved his live.  And while the chemo drugs did in fact lower his white blood count drastically they also comprised his body and just when we thought he was out of the water and would be coming home he suffered a subdural hematoma and this resulted in his death.

His brain had been gone for 2 days, but his heart fought so long and so hard to stay alive--to keep him with us.

This is how much he loved us.

I hope you all have someone who loves you that much and that you love others that much in return.  I hope you love so strong and fierce that you will fight to the bitter end to stay with those you love.

This is a very difficult time for me.  My father was the best men I ever knew.  He never spoke down to me, he always encouraged me, he showed me love every single time we talked or were together.  He never made me feel stupid or unworthy.  Even though he had 3 daughters he acted as if each one of us was the most precious gift he had been given.  I learned so much from him but most of all I learned what it was like to be loved.

Visiting him in the hospital in his room after the ICU where things were looking so good for him to be coming home he told me I should leave before he gets dark.  I still laugh thinking about this.  He was worried about me driving in the dark.  I told him I'd been driving in the dark for 34 years LOL.  On my way out I told him I loved him and he said to me "I love you more than you know"  I looked at him, tears immediately filling my eyes and said, No Dad, I DO know.  I do know how much you love me and I feel it everyday"

The last words my father spoke to me before his brain started to fill with blood were "Honey you look so pretty tonight"

There are no regrets that I didn't get to see him or didn't get to tell him I loved him or didn't get to hear him tell me he loved me.  We told each other we loved each other every time we spoke.

Make sure you do the same.  Tell your friends and your family how much you love them--show them how much you love them.  You never know when your last day or their last day may be.

Last year the first day I had to return to work after my father's death I really started to fall apart while walking out the door.  I had no idea how I was going to go on without "my daddy"  It doesn't matter how old you are a little girl has a daddy even if she's 50.  I opened the door to step outside and there on a bright and sunny day was the biggest, brightest rainbow I had ever seen.  And I felt such a comfort rush over me.  And I knew, I just knew this rainbow was my dad and he was saying, "it's okay honey--you'll be okay.  I love you and I'll always be with you"  My entire drive into work I could see that rainbow.

I wear this manicure today thinking of dad and how much I miss him, but also knowing how much he loved me

I hope you share your love today with your friends and family.

Simply Sparkly

Hi Everyone!  Do you ever get so lazy you just paint over the top of a mani instead of removing it?  I find this happens to me often.  The other day when I did my love letters mani I was trying to come up with the next great idea and I just couldn't.  Instead of removing it I grabbed one of my WetnWild Coloricon polishes--Speak When Spoken To and went over the Zoya Pinta with it.  I really liked the effect and decided just to add a textured gradient as the accents.  The results were a lot more than I could have hoped for!  Very blingy with hardly any effort!

Speak When Spoken To has a pink to blue shift to it so I thought a gradient with Julie G Blueberry Fizz and Crushed Candy was a great choice for a couple of accent nails!
Here's some pics with flash

Sometimes being lazy is definitely the way to go!

I'm starting to feel like I need every single sparkly textured polish there is!

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you all have a fantastic day!

That's some Kick A$$ polish!

So my friend Gina from Red Dog Designs is a genius.  I don't care if it's not the Mensa kind either--although she sure could be in the Mensa club if you ask me!  She made a couple of polishes a while back and hasn't yet released them but I surely hope she does.  When she first showed me the picture of this one I fell flat in love with it and told her it was Kick A$$!!  A few days later I received some polishes in the mail and I died laughing when I got this little beauty!
I immediately went to work making a mani for this fabulous gem!
The raspberry base and raspberry glitter are amazeballs!

Took some shots with flash too because it's SO gorgeous!

I stamped using BM323 with some white and Butter London's Knees Up for my roses---I love the effect!

And look how perfectly it matches my top!

I'm have 2 more polishes like this Gina made and they are just gorgeous.  I'm REALLY hoping she's going to release these in her shop!  Besides who doesn't want to be wearing Kick A$$ with a kick ass mani????!!!

Thanks for stopping by!!! I hope you all have a fantastic day!

I like my Lilac Heavy!!!

Hi Everyone!!! Hope you are all having a great day!  My lazing around and being unproductive lasted a day--today I'm back at it already.  I got up at 7 am and cleaned the kitchen, bathroom and livingroom--okay the livingroom isn't THAT clean as I still have bottles of nail polish on the floor that need to get put away into the melmers LOL!  BUT kitchen and bathroom are done. I got some great nail mail the past couple of days so I definitely want to play around with the colors I got and see if I can come up with something super cool and of course next week is Digit-al Dozen week so I need to start preparing for that as well!

Today's theme for The Adventures In Stamping facebook group challenge is plate ending in 8.  I scoured the many I have and was happy to find a PUEEN image I could use!  The real beauty in this mani is by far the base color!  My friend Jen had a sale getting of some stuff that just wasn't her aka wasn't a holo polish (LOL!) and I snagged 3 lovelies beauties from her.  Seriously Jen is cray cray giving up what she did but her loss is SO my gain!

Today my stamping is PUEEN08 over Catrice's Heavy Metallilac it is a gorgeous metallic purple!
I've never had a more "glowing' purple before!
My only complaint about this mani would be the fact a squishy stamper distorts images so my checkerboards are curved :(
If you fall in love with the color and then are sad you can't get Catrice here--never fear!  Ninja Polish is carrying this color right now!
I honestly had something completely different in mind for today's mani--I'm so glad this came to me at the last minute!

Thanks for stopping by!! Hope you all have a fantastic day!

Love Letters straight to your heart

Hi Everyone!!! Happy Saturday!  Today I'm not doing a thing!  I'm relaxing and working out some mani ideas for the upcoming Digit-al Dozen theme.  It's a tough one and this time I vow to be much better prepared than the tape mani week!  So I'm sitting here today scouring the internet for some ideas and of course I'm reading some hot cowboy romance!  Lorelei James Redneck Rodeo is available and Dalton McKay is one hot cowboy!  I also plan on making some chocolate covered strawberries today using the ice cube tray method I saw on Pinterest.  So it's not like I'm not going to be productive at all, I'm just going to be a lazy productive!!! LOL!

I did this mani thinking of long distance romances and love letters.  It's a bit dark for summer but it looks pretty cool.  I did a lazy gradient with Zoya Caitlin and Petra and then did some nails with Zoya Pinta.  I love Zoya purples, they are simply fantastic!  I stamped using BM311 in Devotion and then some black and DRK-C
I like to take pictures when I'm at work because I feel like the lighting is so much better so I was snapping some pics of this mani
And the new gal who is replacing our beloved Gerardo must have looked over when she heard the camera turn on because I heard Gerardo say, "she's taking pics of her awesome nails for her blog!"  LOL!!!  Oh the things my coworkers have to put up with me!

I had to do the long distance romance thing a couple times in my life and I'm not really a huge fan of it!  My heart goes out to all those who have to live so far away from someone they love!

Thanks for stopping by!!! I hope you are all having a great weekend!

Criss Cross

Hi Everyone Happy Friday!!!! Sorry for fallen off there a couple days!  Crazy busy at work makes me tired so I come home, eat, and fall into bed!  I can give you an update on the car though--I was driving around on a loose freaking tire!  OH MY GOD!!  I could have died in a fiery crash for sure!  Seriously though that's what was wrong with the car.  I was expecting a huge cost and my wonderful mechanic charged me $10 to tighten everyone up.  I don't know how it happened, it could have been when my BIL was checking my brakes for me.  In any case I'm all fixed up and the camera fund money will still be used for a new camera!!! Woot!

Okay so now onto the cool portion of the day-the manicure!  I'm wearing a cool textured look today!!  I got the idea from a tutorial done by Jacki over at The Adventures In Acetone.  All I can say is where was the tutorial when I needed it during Tape Mani week??? LOL!

For my mani I used a Zoya Dove with Zoya Miranda and Kiko 646 sponged over the taping
Miranda is a lovely raspberry!

I just love how cool this looks!!! Thanks Jacki!!!
I'm wearing a franken I made as my non accents--I named this lovely dark grey Shibari MASTER

I just can't get over how much I love these textured polishes!

Please make sure you check out Jacki's awesome and easy, YES I SAID IT--EASY tutorial!  You can honestly get something as cool as this!

Thanks for stopping by!!! I hope you all have a fantastic weekend!
