Can you smell la la la la what the Rock is cookin'?

Hi Everyone!!  Happy Friday!  I'm certainly thankful to have a couple of days off of work.  I finally getting my hair cut tomorrow!  My fab hairdresser, Marcy, has been out with a bum foot for a while.  And since I love her best I wasn't going to settle for anyone else, hence some pretty long a$$ hair!  I don't handle long a$$ hair well either LOL!

The mani I have for today is the whole reason why rocks & minerals week happened!  I did this mani AGES ago and loved it so much and was entirely too proud of it so my fab friend Debbie of The Crumpet said "hey let's do a Rocks & Minerals week so you can show it off!"  And really who am I to argue?

Today I've done a mani to recreate Bornite aka the peacock stone. It's an amazing stone that mimics the colors of a peacock.  To get my look I used all Zoya Textured's--Arabella, Carter and Liberty
Here I am holding my beautiful Bornite.  I got this one on the same fabulous trip to South Dakota!  It's one of my most prized rocks!
It's pretty cool how the textured's made the perfect gradient to mimic my stone!
I think all in all this turned out fantastic!
I hope you enjoyed this week's theme!  I know I sure did!  I think my fellow bloggers all did a fantastic job with this theme as well!

Lead me to the Rock

Hi Everyone!  I hope you all have been enjoying some of the cool mani's in rock week.  I got a little lazy last night with this one as I have not 1, not 2 but 3 new books to read!  I had preordered a couple and then discovered I missed a must read author so I had to go back for more LOL!  I already finished one book.  I read it "cover to cover" on the kindle last night and it was SO good!  Jill Shalvis' 4th installment in her Animal Magnetism series.  The 4th one is called Rumor Has It and just like always Jill gives a great story!  HIGHLY recommend her to any of you who love contemporary romance!

Just because I was lazy though doesn't mean I have a slouch to show you in the mani department!

I hauled out my foils and FINALLY tried them with my Nailuv Gel Lite System.  The results were smashing!  So much so I did not stamp on them!!!
I'm using this lovely foil mani as Ruby!
The foil I used is called Cherry O's and came from Dollar Nail Art
Look at all the holographic glow and sparkle!
I think this is darn close the fiery beauty of a ruby!

I'll report back on how these held up with the gel over them.  They sure look pretty without any wrinkles!

Between a rock and a hard place

Hi Everyone!!! Happy Hump Day!  How have you been handling the time change so far.  I pretty much hate it.  Does Mother Nature think we're stupid?   We know a day or two after the time change, in this case--"fall" back when we look at the clock at see 8pm it's really 9pm for crying out loud!  I'm  normally in bed by 9 so I start fading fast around so called 7pm LOL!

I've got another based on a "real" rock mani for you today.  I saran wrapped and splodged and followed no particular rhyme or reason to come up with today's stone!
I know this stone is some sort of jasper but I really don't know which one
I also think I should have gone with brown instead of black on top BUT this turned out way cool so I'm happy as is!
I used a bunch of greens!  I know for sure I have Sinful Colors Innocent and Pistache in here along with Illmasqua Rampage and I think I did a touch of Zoya Pippa to boot!  And of course some black on top
A pretty close doppleganger for my stone--I think it should be call the tree frog jasper!
I really do love this green mash up mani and I hope I can remember to use something like this again for St Patrick's Day!!

What do you think?  Do you like the mani's to look like an actual rock or do you prefer yesterday's mani  of just the solid color?

For those about to Rock!!! We salute you!

Hi Everyone--Happy Tuesday!  And oh what a happy Tuesday it is.  Today marks the release of not 1 but 2 books I've been waiting for!  I love new release Tuesday!  On my Kindle this very minute is Rumor Has It by Jill Shalvis and Striking Distance by Pamela Clare woot!!!! Can't wait to read both of these!

But in the meantime lets just stare at the gorgeousness of my nails for today!  In keeping with this week's theme of rocks and minerals I chose sapphire!
I went with the most gorgeous blue of all--Illamasqua Phallic.
He is a stunner
Most gorgeous blue on the planet in my humble opinion
How about a little blurb from a poem by Thomas Gray

"He passed the flaming bounds of space and time.
              The living throne--the sapphire blaze,
where angels tremble while they gaze,
He saw, but blasted with excess of light,
closed his eyes in endless night."

Sometimes that's what Phallic looks like--a sapphire blaze.

I stamped over it just because with some chains because I love silver chains on a blue polish
I stamped using SA-08 and DRK-A
I love the little hidden sparkle of Phallic peaking through!
I'm having fun so far this week with Rocks & Minerals--I think my friends are doing some fantastic stuff as well!

We will, we will----Rock You!

Hi Everyone!!! Happy Monday!  Today starts Rocks & Minerals week and for those of you who are die hard Breaking Bad fans I know, I know--they aren't rocks they are just minerals!  I never watched it but when I told my son what the theme was this week he told all about the rocks vs minerals thing and actually he's right.  DO NOT TELL HIM I SAID THAT!

I am a sucker for those bag of rocks you can get whenever you travel.  I love digging through the bins and looking for really cool shapes and colors.  I have a dish of them sitting out at home as well as around my monitor tray at work.  There is just something looking at them I find soothing.

I dug through my stash at home to see if I could recreate anything I had and for the first one up I think I did pretty good!
I had a heck of a time trying to get confirmation on the name of this rock though!
No stamping at all as you can see--this baby is all free hand!
At first we thought it might be dalmation jasper or some sort of rutilated quartz.  But after checking out lots of pics I've settled on Dendric Agate
I think it looks pretty cool
What do you think?  Think it's pretty close?

A few of my friends and I are working on some mineral mani's all week--check em out!

Sunday Challenge--plate that ends in 1

Hi Everyone!!!  Happy Sunday!  Packers are playing tomorrow night so I don't have anywhere to rush to be this fine afternoon.  It's a bit chilly again but the sun is shining.  I'm on a quest to find a couple of eye shadow palettes for my friend in Singapore and I'm on the hunt for some green tops and sweaters today.  I have 2 absolutely gorgeous scarves I want to wear and the both are gradiented greens and I have no green tops at all! WHAT THE FRENCH?!  So I'm on the hunt for something green for sure!

I've got a lovely green on today for my mani though!  It's one of the pretty "ugly" colors.  A color that you normally would not find striking or gorgeous or beautiful yet when you put it on you go WOWZA!

This is the very lovely No More War by Rescue Beauty Lounge

It's an incredible green.  One of those colors I like to call pretty "ugly".

I was lucky enough to be given it as a gift from my sweet friend Stephanie.  She's probably one of the nicest people I know right along with the third in our Polish Trio--Dani.  I can't wait to get together with these girls again!
I stamped using image BM-H11.  This mani is so simple yet might be one of my faves EVER!
Do any of you like those pretty "ugly" colors?  If you do what polishes are your favorite??

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you all have a great day!

Ahhhhhhhh Autumn!

Hi Everyone!!! Happy Weekend!  It's a good day to be inside baking or reading a book this week.  It's cloudy, rainy and definitely not warm.  We might be moving right into Winter here lickety split!

I FINALLY did an Autumn manicure I love!  I found a lovely palette on Design Seeds that I went with and it helped me create what I think is a true Autumn gradient for my nails!
The look of yellow to orange to burgundy to brown is just what I was looking for!
This is the palette I found on Design Seeds
I had to get creative and franken the orange color as it's a much softer orange than anything I have.  I used Sinful Color Pull Over for the yellow, my frankened orange, Zoya Toni for the burgundy/rust and OPI Get In The Espresso Lane for the brown.
I stamped in silver even though it seems you should go with gold with their color scheme--but I wanted to stay true to my palette
I used my SA17 plate for stamping
I'm pleased with how this turned out!

What do you think?  Do you like it better with or without the stamping on it?

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you all have a fantastic day!
