The end is near!

And thank goodness for that!  Hi everyone!  It's a gorgeous Sunday here with the sun out and a lovely 63 degrees.  I'm not outside though, I'm inside watching football!   Packers play this afternoon and we grilling up some steaks for the game!

I'm so glad this challenge is almost over!  I'm going to have double duty tomorrow posting a recreated mani AND starting my nail Crumpet Nail Tart Halloween challenge.

But today is all about the tutorial for day 30 of the 31 Day Challenge.  For my tutorial I went with one by Miss 80 Million.  I watched a lot of her stamping videos on youtube when I was first starting and between her and Soguesswhat11 I guess a stamping star is born lol!

Here's my Miss 80 Million Herringbone!

I'm happy with it despite some of my lines getting a bit thick.
This is a SUPER cool look using BM201 and a striping brush!

In case you'd like to recreate this mani please visit Miss 80 Million's youtube tutorial!  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cvZGQMJysNA&list=FLzPavqkLCko-ySvwlpldJ3w&index=2&feature=plpp_video

Tomorrow is the last freaking day of this challenge and I, for one, cannot wait.  Remember if I try to pull this crap next year tell me to knock it off!

I hope you have a great day!  Hope to see you tomorrow!

Just by the hair on my chinny chin chin!

Hi Everyone! OMG I was out shopping all day with my mom so I barely had time to come up with day 29 in the 31 Day Challenge!  Today's theme is supernatural AND I wanted to do an awesome wicked dragon but a certain someone I won't name *cough* Kayla Shevonne *cough* beat me to it!  Why does that gurl have to be do so ding dang good?! WHY?

Anyway I did manage to come up with something!  Here's my Supernatural mani!

These are all the fairies on the 1st Red Angel set WITH wings over one of my frankens Ringo.  I think it turned out quite lovely!

This challenge is almost over (thank God) what's up for tomorrow?

Tutorial!  I know just the one I have in mind!

Hope you're having a great weekend!

Gentleman start your engines!

Hi Everyone!  Thank God it's Friday!!  AND this challenge is almost freaking over!  Today's theme in the 31 Day Challenge is flag.  WOW there a like a zillion flags out there I could have done.  Honestly I just didn't feel the inclination to look at all of them and try to do justice to some country's flag.  Sooooo I decided to do another well known flag

I wish I could say I know more about this flag other than it's the checkered flag but I really don't.  I don't watch Nascar--never have, probably never will.

This is a pretty fun mani though and if you stare at it long enough your eyes start to go wonky!

Only a couple more days of this thing!  What's up for tomorrow?
Oooooh Supernatural!  I wish there was a way for me to get some of the hunky supernatural heroes Cynthia Eden writes about on my nails!  I guess we'll have to see what I can do instead LOL!

Have a great day!!!

Stick it to 'em

Hi Everyone!  Wow today's theme in the 31 Day Challenge was a toughie for me!  Today is artwork and let's face it, I can't make art work. PERIOD.  I wasn't good at it as a child, I'm not good at it now.  I can't draw so I really had bupkiss for today
Then I got to thinking that they only thing I do know how to do is stick people and probably some doodles.  BUT stick people and doodles is how we all first learn to draw therefore it IS artwork LOL!

Here's my lovely "artwork" for today

Of course I didn't draw these either instead used some images from Cheeky to come up with a child's drawing.

I sure hope tomorrow's theme is better than artwork for crying out loud!

Hmm flag that one should be pretty easy--at least I can hope.

The days are winding down and I, for one, am glad.  There is just no way I'm doing this again next year!  Please remind me I said that if I go crazy and try to do it again!

Thanks for stopping!  Have a great day!

What really is a girl's best friend?

Hi Everyone!  Happy hump day!  Today is day 26 in the 31 Day Challenge and the theme is inspired by a pattern.  I was really trying to rack my brain for a great pattern when it dawned on me--I STAMP!  Almost every design I wear is a pattern lol!  I've been lamenting all the plates I have which I haven't used so I hauled em out and looked through them to come up with an untried.  And since I went to the trouble of a stamping plate untried I decided to haul out a polish untried.  I snagged Revlon's Facets of Fuchsia which is the Lippmann Bad Romance dupe and honestly all I could think of was WHY HAVE I OWNED THIS FOR A YEAR AND NEVER WORN IT?

For today's theme of pattern I chose a diamond design over Facets of Fuchsia

I just love, love, LOVE how this turned out!

I did a layer of black, two coats of Facet of Fuchsia and then stamped using Peripera 044.  I love the Peripera polishes because they are opaque in a coat therefore perfect for stamping!

I chose the the diamond like image from Cheeky XL B.  I'm a huge fan of the Cheeky XL plates but the small round ones not so much.

You know what I wish?  To any indie polish makers out there reading this I'd love a color just like Facets with a sheer black base BUT with aqua, teal and gold diamond shape glitters in it! OMG can you image the perfection a mermaid tail mani would be if that polish existed????!!!!!!

We're nearly done with this challenge (thank God) so I wonder what's up for tomorrow?
Hmmm artwork that might really suck because I just can't draw!

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you all have a fantastic day!

Just a little tighter please

Hi Everyone!

Today is a rare treat--okay since I'm not that good it might not really be a treat but today is some freehand art lol!  It's day 25 in the 31 Day Challenge so fashion is up.  As I said yesterday I'm not very fashionable BUT there are many fashionable things I love--one of them is . . .

Corset Nails!

Who doesn't love hot pink and black together???!!!!

BTW the little dots are supposed to be ruffles!  No way in h e double hockey sticks can I re-create a Robin Moses corset mani LOL!

I hope tomorrow is something easier! Free hand is hard!

A pattern--okay I might be able to swing this--tune it tomorrow to see if I do lol!

Thanks for stopping by!!! Have a great day!!

Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny

Hi Everyone!  Happy Monday!  Well I hope it's happier for everyone than it is for me!  Friday I had to leave my car at work because it wasn't driving right at all.  Saturday my fab brother in law checked it out and my passenger side rear wheel is locked! LOCKED! Why I do not know, I only know the ding dang thing is.  It's going to the mechanic today for him to look at--hopefully it's not one of those oh oh this will cost you eleventy billion dollars to fix issues.
Good thing I worked all the overtime last week LOL!

Today is day 24 in the 31 Day Challenge and the theme today is based on a book.  Wellllllll I'm a HUGE romance reader--romance of all genres from sweet to erotica, historical, westerns, paranormal, romantic suspense and contemporary.  I read em all!  One of my favorite authors is Toni Blake--her Letter's To A Secret Lover is a reread for me AND it makes me cry.  But here's a fun fact about Toni--she's also erotic author Lacey Alexander and her erotica is just as fabulous as her contemporary romance! GO FIGURE!  One of my favorite books by Lacey Alexander is The Bikini Diaries.   I decided to do my book mani by copying the book cover

It's a bit weird having neon nails on in Fall lol!

If you're a fan of "hot" romance and you haven't picked anything up by Lacey Alexander yet DO IT!  She is fabulous!  And if you love contemporary romance with a bit of heat pick up anything and everything by Toni Blake, especially Letters To A Secret Lover.

What's up for tomorrow?
Hmmm fashion--I'm not too fashionable so I hope I can come up with something!

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you all have a fantastic day!

FREEDOM!

Hi Everyone! Today is day 23 in the 31 Day Challenge and that means movie day!  It was really a toss up for me about which of my fave movies I would do I chose between two so let's see which one won!

I hope you can tell this is from the movie Braveheart.  I love that movie and find myself watching it time and time again!  Let me share a story with you though, Readers.  When it first came out, my little sister, Lynelle, and I went to see it.  As we were getting our sodas I started grabbing up tons of napkins because I knew I was going to cry and she wasn't getting any so I said to her, "Aren't you going to get napkins in case you cry?"  She said, "No I'm sure I won't cry."  There was an usher across the room from us and he beehived it over to her so fast and said, "Oh you WILL cry--men have left here crying."  Lucky for her she listened to him because we were actually pretty inconsolable in this movie.

She didn't know the story of William Wallace but I did so I knew what happened to him.  And just before his torture and execution scene I said to her, do you just want to leave now--but we didn't.  We stayed til the bitter end and it was just a flat out bawlfest between us.

Here is, of course, the best quote from the entire movie

"You have come to fight as free men, and free men you are.  What will you do with that freedom?  Will you fight? Aye, fight and you may die, run and you'll live.  At least a while.  And dying in your beds many years from now, would you be willing to trade all the days from this day to that for one chance, just one chance to come back here and tell our enemies that they may take our lives, but they'll never take our FREEDOM!

Holy cow I just got all choked up typing the quote!  Good thing football's on today so I don't try to watch Braveheart for the 80 bazillionith time and bawl my eyes out!

What's up for tomorrow?  Am I crying again?
Yay a book!  No crying okay well maybe because I read mostly romances and sometimes I do cry lol!

I hope you all have a great day and to my Scottish followers ALBA GU BRÀTH!

We're after the same rainbow's edge

Hi Everyone!  Today is day 22 in the 31 Day Challenge and we're in the home stretch.  Thank God!  I honestly do not know why I do these challenges!  Sometimes towards the end it feels so much like a chore instead of just being able to wear what you want lol!

Today's theme is Inspired By A Song.  I chose one very near and dear my heart.  My parents would have been married for 50 years on September 8th, but complications from chemo therapy took my dad's life on August 9th--one month short of that anniversary.

I spent the past almost 50 years of my life knowing without a shadow of a doubt my parents loved each other.  I've told many people over this past month and a half the only time a heart can break is if it's filled with love.  An empty heart simply cannot shatter.  When you love so much and so hard that makes the loss all that much more unbearable.

And while this seems sad and many of you might feel so bad for my mom you should know just as I do some people will never be that lucky.  To have a love that last's a lifetime.

Their song is Moon River from the lovely movie Breakfast At Tiffany's.  I did this mani today in honor of their love and friendship

These are my parents Al and Sandy Lutze--every romance novel ever written seemed to be about them

I'm so thankful I grew up with the most loving parents a girl could ever hope for

I hope all of you know the meaning of a deep true love in your lives..

Stop by tomorrow for inspired by a movie!  I have a couple of ideas for which of my fave movies I can do!

Have a great weekend!

Get your grape on!

Hi Everyone!  It's already day 21 in the challenge!   I decided to go for something I've never done before--a plain and simple ombre mani.  Before I got into stamping, which helped add fuel to the polish collecting fire, my "problem" color was purple.  Lots and lots and lots of purples.  Mostly dark ones though lol.  I hauled out a few of the ones I had and just did a simple ombre.

I actually had this on yesterday and people at work were perplexed by the whole "why do you have a different color of purple on each day?"  Sometimes the "real" world just doesn't get the "nail" world LOL!

The lightest purple I had wasn't a cream so that sort of ruined the effect, but still I had to go with what I had.  I'm just not a pastel person at all therefore I need to add a pale lilac creme to my list of need to pick ups lol!

Tomorrow starts the more complex challenge ideas
Inspired by a song--this one will be near and dear to my heart.  I hope you stop by to see it.

Have a great day!!! Happy Friday!

I'm falling for this water marble

Hi everyone!  Day 20 of the 31 Day Challenge is water marble.  I haven't done one it what seems like forever so I decided to use some colors I got from two sweet friends of mine.  My friend and co-worker Ashlee gave me Sally Hansen Insta Dri Snappy Sorbet forever ago and I've never used it and my friend Wendy gave me the super gorgeous Misa Golden Thread when my dad was sick and again never used.  I decided to pair these two with OPI Wooden Shoe Like To Know for a pretty fallish looking water marble!

I think this looks pretty snappy even if my pinkie looks more like Mars the angry red planet lol!

Snappy Sorbet really looks neon with these colors instead of just a bright coral

I like how this turned out--it was just like riding a bike!

What's up for tomorrow
A color--hmmm how interesting.

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Live Long and Prosper!

Hi Everyone!  It's day 19 in the 31 Day Challenge and that can mean only one thing---Galaxy Nails.  I have to admit it though I'm not a huge of galaxy nails.  I might have been once but really once you've done them they're just . . . done.  Maybe I'm just not creative enough to do galaxy nails that blow me away.

I'm not not a fan which is why I didn't take many pics of this mani lol!

Maybe tomorrow will be better let's see what's up next

Water marble maybe I'll have more luck with that one!

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!

If this half moon mani is (Mr) Wrong then I don't want to be (Mr) Right!

Hi Readers!  Do any of you have the "bad picker" gene?  Not the gene about being bad and picking your nose, but rather the gene where when it comes to a choice of mate--boyfriend, girlfriend--spouse you're just a flat out bad picker.  I have the gene.  It's not discovered yet but I surely do have it.  One day when they do discover it I believe they will call it the Laurie Effect, or laurieism--but believe you me that gene is as real as the smart gene--or the can't lose any weight gene.

Last year when I did the 31 Day Challenge I thought it would be cute to toss together Hard Candy's Mr Right and Mr Wrong and I decided I want to use them again in this year's 31 Day Challenge and YES another successful pairing of the two!

Mr Right is a gorgeous dark blue shimmer--he reminds me a bit of Phallic.  Mr Wrong is a super cool glass flecky purpley goldy bronze lol!

I really love them both!

Ii thought for a minute about stamping over this mani but I just love the blue in Mr Right so much I didn't want to cover him!

Which one do you like better Readers--Mr Right or Mr Wrong?  And I wonder what our choice says about us????

Wow more than half way through the challenge!!! What's up for tomorrow
Galaxy nails--hmmm I'm not a huge fan of this look for some reason.  Maybe because I suck at creating them??? You'll have to tune in tomorrow to see how they look!

Thanks for stopping by!! I hope you all have a fantastic day!

Laurie, Lisa and Michelle?????!!!

Hi Readers!  Happy Monday!  It's another week of overtime for me so 10 1/2 hour days loom ahead of me.  I think my nails today are going to keep me alert and apt though!  I've probably mentioned it before but I have 2 sisters, one is here with me on Earth and one is in Heaven.  My whole life growing up there was a lot of Laurie! Lisa! Lynelle!  Sometimes mom just called us laurielisalynelle because she didn't know who she was scolding LOL! I'm the oldest, then came Lisa, then Lynelle.  Lynelle and I had to say goodbye to our sweet Lisa three years ago and it's hard for us now to be known as just Laurie and Lynelle, but we go on because--well because we have too.  I decided to do a gradient with the two Zoya's I have with my name--Laurie and one of my sister's names--Lisa.  I've suggested Zoya use Lynelle a zillion times but so far no good. Recently I snagged 3 of Sonoma Nail Art's Halloween Polishes, Here Lies Robert, Sincerest Pumpkin Patch, and Deadly Zins. I happen to know the creator of Sonoma Nail Art's name is Michelle which is darn close to Lynelle so I topped my Laurie and Lisa gradient with Michelle's Deadly Zins!  And how fitting it is to go with day 17 in the 31 Day Challenge which is glitter!

First up just a pic of my Laurie and Lisa gradient.
It's lovely!  What cracks me up though is how the total opposite of our personalities the colors are.  Zoya Laurie is a super pale pink while Lisa is a shiny micro glitter red.  Lisa was neither bold or outrageous--which red usually signifies.  And I'm DEFINITELY not a pastel pink type of gal LOL!  Still they are beautiful and look great together just like Lisa and I did!

I topped this lovely gradient with a couple coats of Michelle's Deadly Zins AND stamped on it!

Don't you just love the bottle label???? OMG it's to die for!  Deadly Zins is a mix of red glitters in various sizes along with some tiny black  and fuschia glitter!  Really lovely!!!

I love it when I can stamp over glitters!  They just look so cool that way!

I also love who subtle the gradient looks topped with Deadly Zins--just really spectacular!

I'm super elated with this one and really didn't know if I could pull off a successful glitter!  So let's see what's up for tomorrow shall we?

Half Moons! Oooh I have a great idea for this one!

Thanks for stopping by!!  I hope you all have a great day!

Stay alive! No matter what occurs I will find you!

Hi Readers!  My little sister, Lynelle, and I have a long standing argument on what is the most romantic scene in any movie.  I one hundred percent believe it's from An Officer And A Gentleman when following the morning after Paula (Debra Winger) gets a bit up in arms with Zach (Richard Gere) and she tries to leave the hotel room.  She tries and tries to open the door but to no avail.  And why? It's because Zack is standing behind her his arm raised above her holding it closed.  Then he zooms down for a kiss on the neck and I'm sorry Reader's but that's all she wrote!  I LOVE THAT SCENE!  Basically I love that movie but honestly to me it's the most romantic.  GAH I love how Richard Gere kisses, the way he holds onto the woman's face with his hands--heaven I tell you!  Sheer, freaking, heaven!  Lucky Carey Lowell!

Lynelle disagrees with me.  She thinks the most romantic scene in any movie is from The Last Of The Mohican's when Hawkeye (Daniel Day Lewis) and Cora Munro (Madeline Stowe) are about to be separated.  The are hiding in a cave behind a waterfall--okay I'll give her that, THAT is freaking freaking romantic, and about to be caught.  This is what Hawkeye says to her "No, you submit, do you hear?  You be strong, you survive. . . You stay alive, no matter what occurs!  I will find you.  No matter how long it takes, no matter how far, I will find you."  Okay maybe those words are alot more romantic than just bending down to kiss someone's neck but still I'm not caving in and I think my movie moment is more romantic lol!  Still The Last Of The Mohican's what a freaking fantastic movie--GORGEOUS scenery.  And really what a wonderful book with a tale full of love and loss.

I'm feeling the Native American roots I so wish I had today Readers.  The theme in the 31 Day Challenge today is tribal and here's what I came up with

I thought about trying my hand at freehand, but then really who do I think I am, so I settled for stamping and I think it turned out pretty good!

I thought about earthier colors as well, something more Aztec like but really I liked the red, blue, yellow and white together a lot more.

I'm glad this is a weekend because I really don't think I would wear this at work lol!  My friend Lizzard (Lizz) is wanting a tribal mani though so this might be right up her alley!

As you can see I did some striping with red, blue, yellow and white, then I stamped using images BM314 and Mash-42.  It didn't take nearly as long as I'm sure most of friends took freehanding theirs LOL!

Let's see what's up tomorrow in the challenge shall we??!!!!
Ahhh glitter my nemesis--I saw that because I'm not a glitter fan.  It's not so easy to stamp over glitter so I'm usually not a huge fan.  I hope I can come up with something cool!

Do any of you have a favorite romantic scene from a movie? Care to share?

Thanks for stopping by!!! I hope you all have a fantastic day!
